  • Tae Ew Failure rate increased HARDCORE

I hate to be the bringer of bad news...

Since 2 or so patches ago my Tae Ew fails have been over 10x more than before the patch. My skill is 249.. even with a geerlok in hand I fail far more tunics, 2H swords and shields at the least than I EVER have. It's almost as bad as 1:1 ratio now I think.

God I hate this game sometimes.

at first I thought it was bad luck.. but I have consistently failed over and over and over and over. If it's bad luck, I should be dead.

The patches I am referring to are the ones that were late last week I believe. Have you guys made all these shields since then?

If you make 10 failures in a row that can very well mean a bad batch of the random number generator, happens all the time. All you can do is zone, relog, bang your head into the nearest wall etc.
Now if you fail 30 times on 3 different days then you might be right and the difficulty might have been raised.

                To quote the Dead Horse:

"# The Den of Lies--Smithing Myths and Misconceptions
This list is a list of things regarding Smithing that simply are not true:

                * Success Rate "Phantom" Nerfs--Have not, and never have, taken place. The Random Number Generator (or RNG) is dirt poor; it often works in streaks, and at times will be quite unfavorable to a person; the opposite is also true. "

I had a streak of 105 cultural pieces made between skillups 194 and 195; I had had 5 cultural pieces made between skillups 193 and 194.

STEALTH NERFS DO NOT EXIST. The Random Number Generator is a fickle bitch.

If I saw raw logs of ~300 combines with an abnormally high failure rate I'd consider it a stealth nerf. Otherwise, it's the EXACT SAME overreaction we get every patch.

Well I hope for sure you are all right and I am wrong. I can only say that I make 3-4 tae ew pieces a day.. whether it's tunics, legs, shields or 2H swords. Before that patch it was a rarity to see an item fail.. but it happened. After the patch, I have failed at least half of my items.. probably 5 runs of 3 items on average.. 15 items total across 5 days. I have failed easily 9 items. Last night I attempted 2 tunics and a 2H sword for example. I made a 2H sword.

I'll chalk it up to bad luck for now. But I just don't believe it.

                      Oh,

And as far as stealth nerfs never happening. While that may be true in smithing (...) it certainly is NOT true in the rest of the game. Stealth nerfs happen ALL the time on mobs, zones.. NPCs.. skills .. you name it. I wouldn't think it's reasonable to assume it can't happen in smithing.

Read my signature. I'm a shadowknight. We get stealth nerfed so bad even the DEVELOPERS don't know we've been nerfed. We have someone come here after every patch and announce the same thing. 50 percent failure on 90 tae ew pieces is average, not a stealth nerf.

                          Last week =
                          2/2 tunics
                          1/1 legs
                          1/2 shields

I've made around 20 tunics, 2 legs and 8-9 shields in the last week alone. Out of those, I only had 2 failures on the tunics. And luckily, zero failures on the tempers (thank you RNG!)

                            Skill is 250 w/geerlok btw.

From my experience, I'd say that you are just on a nasty run. When I first started Tae Ew, I failed my first 4 shields

                            You'll turn it around,

Made 2 longswords Sunday or Monday (17 or 18 of May). I've yet to fail on Tae Eww weapons or shields.
