  • Farming FS

    Hiya folks!

I am working on my smithing and like many I was tempted to move on to Fine Plate ASAP. However due to the difficulties in obtaining padding in conjunction with the changed to the FS conversion rates I have decided to stick out OC until i trivial it out.

Can anyone recommend a good spot to farm FS in the lvl 20-23 range? I am a Paladin with good equipment and as I spend a lot of time in the PoK crafting I often have high level buffs from MGBs. I am looking for reliability in drops as opposed to XP or other loot. In fact I would prefer not to level too fast.

    Any advice is appreciated

Well, I think it's a little high level for you but Fearrott is my fav place for FS. The Lizards near the CZ zone all have FS something. I get so much I have to leave some on bodies to walk and sell (Ranger, no Gate, but SoW lets me walk at even 800 stones!) Also, they drop in the 5pp each range, not bad cast. If I want more cash I can go to RM for Hill giants or get a few guildies and go to CZ for loot and blood.

At 20-23, I think its impossible to fight anything that would drop fine steel without getting experience.

Best spot in my experience is easily Solusek A, although you'll probably need a group there.

IMHO, High Keep is probably best place. you get FS weapons, HQ ore drops, and the unrefined ore for restock quest. Oh, and goblins drop plat. XP is still best yet for 20-35 I think.

I agree with Silound, HK is best for his level for the bonus of having HQ ore + fs weapons. Feerrott is good for us higher levels that won't be welcome trying to camp the popular zones. I started farming in Feerrott to let the lowbies have their zones without worrying about a high level taking all the mobs (something that has always ticked me off when I was on the receiving end. *cough* aqua goblins *cough*) The only time I've run into somebody else at the CT entrance was another high level player farming for fs. Other than that one time, I've had the area to myself.

You may not want to do High keep for FS and ore...

As a Paladin, you are going to need to turn in a note to the banker in HK in order to do the quest for the Soulfire. Hunting for FS here will ruin your faction with the banker. However, you can hunt the goblins in the bottom of HK which drop fine steel and unrefined ore.

              amazing

i'm amazed people have forgotten THE BEST zones to farm HQ ore (my how time has passed).

              Sol A / Sol B

blocks and bricks drop fairly often enough off the goblins in Sol A, and the dogs in Sol B drop FS weapons fairly often that we end up turfing them after a while just because we're FULL.

                You missed my post above.

                heh heh

The only problem with Sol A is that a group is all but required here. Anyone else is going to get murdered, especially either the first time a goblin runs, or when they end up agroing two wizards at the same time.

That, and everyone and their dog is aware of how easy it is to farm FS in Sol A. When I spent a few levels here with my mage I had to keep moving around the dungeon because high level farmers kept sweeping through the areas I was in and slaughtering everything around me.
