  • Race advice on high level smithing.

I currently have a Dwarf and a Barbarian both with smithing skills for between 150-175 and can't decide which one to take up to 200+.

The Dwarf is an agnostic Warrior and the Barb is a Tribunal Shaman.

There really doesn't seem to be much Dwarven or Barbarian cultural armor on my server but there is probably a bit more Dwarven than Barb.

I kind of like the idea of the Dwarf due to the roleplaying aspect of a Dwarven smith. However, the biggest factor will be what I have an easier time selling and/or making of the cultural etc armor. I want to be able to use my skills if I work at getting them up high enough. I'm 250 in a couple other skills and pretty much never get the chance to make stuff that I can sell to people or give to guildees.

I really never see Barb cultural and only see one seller of dwarven armor most of the time. If any of you could offer some insight on the difficulties with skillups, and selling of the armor I'd appreciate it.

What comes top mind for most people most when it comes to armor? Plate. Probably highest profits and most frequent sales(in general -- tae ew scale rarity makes a clear exception)? Plate. Classes that come to mind first for this armor? Warrior of course. Most popular warrior? In my experience, barbarian. Secondarily, ogre.

Might want to consider deciding who to turn into a smith considering what the market is. I'd say stuff worn by barbarians and ogres is a good bet. Nicely, both can be shamans, too, so you have a chain market there as well if you pick one or the other.

And for ogre warriors, the best of the normal smithed armor for rallos zek worshippes, that is, requiring no rare drops, is fierce heraldic, which ogres can't even make. (weird on roleplay i guess) Humans make it, who also have excellent cultural skill up options. Barbs can also worship rallos zek and wear rallos zek armor.

This market may be coming to an end though, as flags get taken off and everyone can soon pass the current generation of armors by. Fierce heraldic and some other top cultural armors are already selling for only half of what they were a few months ago, and so is Tae Ew. A possible argument for just making whoever you like best become your smith. After all, it is just a game.
