  • Fine steel to brick conversion

Today post patch I smithed down some fine steel into hq bricks. I noticed that some weapons were returning double the material that they were pre today's patch. For example, a fs rapier returned two small hq bricks, as did a fs long sword. I forget all the details on what did what (I'll pay better attention tonight when I farm some more steel), but I'm wondering if this was intentional or a bug. I saw nothing mentioned in the patch message. Anyone have anything to add?

Hmm has anyone tryed chisiling down a block to see if the conversion was 'fixed'? Previously it was a problem to have two of the same non stacking items on the cursor ot once, which is why it was returning only one small brick.

As far as i know Conversions have NOT been fixed. I grabbed a block of velium broke it down.

        Only got 1 large brick.

        Broke the brick down.

        Only got 1 small brick

So that part hasn't been fixed (at least for velium it hasn't)

There's a post in Primal Scream, iirc, that mentions problems with chiseling other types of ore bricks as well.

So, from the sound of things, bad hand-ins will give back the proper amount. FS weapons conversions will give you the proper amount. Chiseling bricks and blocks will NOT give you the proper amount of ore, however.

This appears to be an odd bug, and we should probably start pestering SoE until we get some comments back on it.

I broke down a Large Enchanted Brick today and got...

THREE SMALL BRICKS OF ENCHANTED ORE !!

            I was so happy!
That, coupled with the increased returns on FS weapons to ore, means i have... seven large blocks of high quality ore, waiting for a chanter with the spell to come by.... /sigh.

Very belated reply here, but that's great to hear! Updating the site and DB with this info now. Will keep an eye out for posts of other goodies that are now returning more, so the site can be updated.

Actually, I think the enchanted bricks break down was fixed when the quest and FS conversion change went live. IIRC, some people reported success breaking them down at that point.

However, probably because its the stuff that I personally need to break down (for small pieces for studs), acrylia and velium (along with other types of unenchanted ore) still only produce one piece if the result is not stackable.
