Made 90 combines yesterday skilled up from 188 to 200. Int 290. Its actually fun to make this stuff ONCE you have all the items collected .

The fact that you got 12 skillups in only 90 combines I'm sure had nothing to do with it being fun....

I have been keeping a very detailed record of combines/success/fails and such. I plan to post a full list once I get to 250. So far I have went from 193 to 213 skill. That is from 220 combines, which makes average of 11 combines per skill up. I read some of the older post and see that its about right for everyone to do around that same number of combines. I am hoping my luck holds out for the rest of it lol.

Er...I don't think it's about the right level. It took me well over 300 combines at 275 wisdom to go from 188 to 195. I did almost 100 combines in one session on 195 alone, without moving up at all.

However, on a happier note -- I got to 290 wisdom by buying some planar AA the other day, and went from 195 to 200 in 66 combines.

wow 300 combines sounds like a bad run of luck. When I was doing fine plate I did well over 230 combines to go from 170 to 171. Think goodness I was still doing fine plate. Vendor bought bad runs are better then when your farming for skill ups. With that said it sounds as though you had a good run once you got your wisdom up though.

I've been doing shadowscreama nd acrylia plate and it's taken me about 350-ish combines(mostly ss) to get from 188-198 now

Ouch! I averaged 1 skill-up per 8 combines from 188-200 on Shadowscream, and that was with 230<STR<250.

Are all those getting a slower skillup rate using WIS as their primary stat? I seem to notice a trend of people with WIS>255 having poorer skillup rates than those with STR=255.

Well, I'm a shaman, so my strength is generally 265 and my wisdom has slowly gone up, just in the last day or so to 290 from 275.

I've actually had quite a few very bad long runs in different skills so far. That recent run of quick skill ups made me happier than I've been with smithing for a long time! (And considering how long shadowscream takes to farm -- I mean LONG time...)

I am lucky to get 1 skill up for 40 combines, and I always get FOS and Daiku before I start out.

They need wood elf cultural that will skill up, farming for this stuff stinks, and the resale value is even worse

I've been at 189 now for about 100 combines. Still looking for a skillup. Going to switch to Cultural since its seems to be a bit easier farming. Only need to track down a chanter and tie him to a forge to enchant the metals. :twisted: Then get t oadd a cleric to the mix later.

I've been keeping track as well...not of fails and success's though. Here's what I have. I do my shadowscream in bunches of 80 attempts at a time.

These all done with 270 wisdom.

1st 80 combines - 188 to 192
2nd 80 combines - 192 to 199
3rd 80 combines - 199 to 203

Starting attempts at 275 wisdom.

4th 80 combines - 203 to 206

I've gained a level since then and the next 80 will be at 275 wisdom. Will update when done.

350+ Combines to get from 191 to 192 <--cult/shadow/acrylia/sickle combo

Then maybe another 80 or so to get to 194. <--all shadow scream

I am so burnt after that one ridiculous run that I had to take a long break from smithing.

Went from 188 to 199 on (255/255/255 STR/DEX/WIS)
70 SS boot combines
15 Acrylia plate/chain combines
40 Cultural combines
20 PotC sickle combines and
4 Black Acrylia weapon combines
took 3.5 hours of clicking

But omg, now I have SOOOOO much bank space!

I spent the last few days farming 512 swirling shadows.

Going to get another AA point so I can buy my way to 295 wisdom, then we'll see if 200 and up smithing goes any faster for me with shadowscream than it did to get to 200 in the first place.
