  • Cost of Hurricane and Night Terror chain?

Ok... Saw some hurricane boots for 18k. Is this really the cost of the item with 1-2k up for profit or is that just the demand atm and they're makin a huge profit?

I only ask cuz there's no way I can afford it and am hoping it will go down eventually.

Well, if you want to know, take a look at the ingredients needed to craft the boots, find their prices on your server's Bazaar. Factor in the success rate (as a divider) - at around 250 skill, it should be around 50% or so, for what I know, so that would be double the cost to make it then.

If you've added all that up, also include the fact that the crafter needs to somehow obtain the Emblem (which is returned on failure, consumed on success), which might cost extra.

See how much the price differs from the ingredients spent. The extra money is what the smith in question considers the value of his skill.

On my server, by the way, these Boots would sell for 6-8k I think.

Any PoP armor is a pain in the ass to make (especially plate as it needs LOTS of tempers).

Night Terror ingrediants are not too hard to get but the Drops of Pure Rain for Hurricane armor aren't easy to get on Trib as people decided "OMG its used to make armor so lets stick them on our trader for 3k to 5k each".
You need between 1 (chain bracer) and 6 (Plate Legs/BP) of them to attempt a piece of armor (Plate needs WAY more than chain).

So if you had to pay 18 to 30kpp just to get some of the ingrediants to ATTEMPT some Hurricane Plate Legs or BP.... you'd probably not bother!

Then of course you need all the other bits to make the tempers and yes you need a 61+(?) chanter to Imbue a raw diamond AND then there is a JC > 250 combine to make an emblem with that imbued diamond.

The only nice thing is that if you fail the armor...... the emblem is returned.

On my server Night Terror Chain legs sell for about 8 to 9k.
I actually sold a Night Terror BP for the first time 2 days ago (for 15kpp).

Ok so for the hurricane armor the pure rain drops are the golden nugget. Or the "blue diamond" of pre-pop best of the best crafted armor so to speak. Back when bd were 2500. Will have to keep my eyes peeled and make sure I get a roll on those when they drop =P.

To make a pair of hurricane boots you will need 3 sandstorm pearls, 2 electrified copper, 4 drops of pure rain, 5 storm rider blood, someone to make a diamond of storms from one of the bloods, and someone to make an emblem with the diamond.

Depending on prices, I don't see this as being terribly profitable unless you farm the rain yourself.

The drops are the PITA component here.
IF they are for sale they are usually 3-6k I have seen.
I have only been able to make one plate bp and chain tunic.
I finally sold the bp a few days ago for 40k.
I have the tunic for 30k.

              Wow nice!

I made Hurricane Plate BP last night. I figure 45k is probably a good price to start to try to sell it at.

I've only been able to sell Night Terror Plate BP's for 15 to 16k
Thats probably because BD Cultural plate BP's sell for around 15kpp and people figure they're comparable for those poor agnostic/badly chosen deity peeps.

Drops of Pure Rain are worse than BDs - you need twice as many to make a plate item. On the plus side, the failure rate on the PoP armors is much lower than the BD items.

I've sold two Hurricane Plate BPs for 36k each. So I've made a profit, but if I fail next time ... well, I'll still be ahead of the game, but not by much. And the drops are too rare to be able to count on a steady supply, so you can't really "play the everages" like you can with BD plate. So the hurricane stuff is great to dabble in if you and your friends are hunting the drops, or if you can afford to have 15-20k *POOF* in the forge.

I'd be surprised to see the chain tunics go for too much with all the Tae Ew and Night Terror stuff out there dirt cheap. Someone had Hurricane Chain Tunic up all weekend for 20k, no takers, they currently have at 15k .... meanwhile Night Terror Chain Leggings are 8k.

The market on your server my be different, but I'd recommend with Hurricane to stick to selling plate, and look at making the chain to order or for special friends. Chain folks have just got too many options that are almost as good for a lot less.

BP and Legs are Tae Ew all the way in terms of bang for the buck. Tae Ew Chain in all the other locations is pretty poor, Hurricane Chain for those other locations is good though.

To make a 2 ring item, here's the Xegony prices (sometimes you can get cheaper if you wait for the right moment in the bazaar)
                  3 sandstorm pearls, (200pp each)
                  2 electrified copper, (750pp each)
4 drops of pure rain, (2500pp each)
5 storm rider blood, (75pp each)
someone to make a diamond of storms from one of the bloods, and someone to make an emblem with the diamond. Figure 1000pp

I failed 3 temper combines in a row at one point. Man that sucked so bad.

I wish Drops of Pure Rain were that cheap on Drinal.

Sandstorm pearls = 100 to 200 pp each

Electrified copper = 75 to 200 pp each

Drops of pure rain = 6500 to 7000 pp each

Storm rider blood = 50 to 100 pp each

Doesn't take a math degree to see the cost of a successful combine for something requiring 4 drops of pure rain is around 30K. Now count in your failures.....

Drops of pure rain - while rare - really should not be as expensive as I've seen them.

I saw someone selling one hurricane temper for 10k and a tunic that would take 3 tempers to make selling for 20k. Didn't make much sense to me. /shrug

Tae Ew tunics and legs are much better, in my opinion. As someone in this thread pointed out, they are the only decent Tae Ew pieces - I'd fill in the rest with Hurricane. I have given up on making it, however, because of the price of components. I won't pay 5k for a drop of rain and take a loss on sleeves or boots because I would not sell those pieces for more than 10k. So, despite the fact that they would be a huge upgrade for some folks, I won't make them.

drops of pure rain go for 3k-5k on my server too. Makes me go bonkers.

And I dunno wtf is up with my server, but like 3 weeks ago, nightmare mephit blood (night terror component) was only like 400pp or so, and now it's skyrocketed up to like 1600-2000pp each for NO **** reason. I feel like smacking all those vendors in bazaar who price them that bad. And I feel sorry for any sucker who's willing to pay that much for the stuff.

For me the hurricane chain sleaves and coif are good sellers. They are nice upgrades for shaman at least (haven't looked at comparable items for rangers/rogues..but I know shaman like em). And they only take 2 tempers to make. 1 to make the rings, and 1 for the final combine. Up until recently drops of pure rain were 2500 each (some dinks have been pricing at 8k-10k the last couple of days /boggle). Sandstorm pearls and storm rider blood REALLY common on vendors so never paid bazaar prices. The bricks of copper have been a PAIN to find. 500-750p for those in bazaar (which I ended up paying). I bought the diamonds of storm in bazaar at 900p each *shrug*. So for one coif or sleaves, cost is around 7500. I sold them at 15k. Works out to be a nice profit. The leggings, not so nice but they did sell (at 15k also).

The plate BP was a PAIN. 2500*6 for the rain, same cost on everything else = ~22k to make. Thankfully I succeeded and I will NEVER do that again. I don't care that I "might" get 40-50k for the thing (all hurricane plate BPs I've seen for sale on my server have been 50-60k) that's WAY too much to risk failing at. When I made it I just wanted to do something different so it was worth it at the time, but never again LOL.

There was a way to get to the mephits in pon withought the fight thru the hobbies....... that route has been closed by sony as it was never intended to be a shortcut...............

I just sold a tunic for 12500. I bought it for 11K just to get it off the market while I was trying to sell my Plate Breastplate for 45K (which I did). Then I started trying to resell it at 15K..slowly dropped until it moved at 12500 (this is over a period of about a month).

And yes, the people on DRo try to sell Drops of Pure Rain in the bazaar for 5K...soooo stupid. I buy them if they get down to 2K - 2500 area..
