  • slugs in PoN

curious, i've gathered the ingredients for doing a decent amount of nightmare smithing (couple stacks of metal, blood, raw diamonds, midnight stone dust, etc.)

i'm just missing the elusive fetid slime. if i were to take a group in and do the slugs along the river, what kind of drop rate can i expect on the slime? is this an annoying bad drop (e.g. pristine tae ew scales) or just rare because people dont farm slugs on my server?

    -frynque

ps: anyone have any "nightmare armor" success rate stories?

Slime isn't bad to get hold of.

The onlt time I was farmign was last week when I was pulling the slags from across the river to docks. Just have to be careful as they are casters so pulling up the bank and then down onto the docks is your best bet.

As for drop rate 1:4 would seem a fair estimation form my 1 time experience.

I envy you the blood...only thing i need to get on with Nightmare Terror combines myself.

At 252 mod skill, I have gone 4/5 on Plate BPs and 2/2 on Plate Legs.
Have also gone 2/3 on Chain Legs.

Small sample space but its all I have atm.

The plate armor is a bit of a pain in the ass to make, I have to say.
Shame the Emblem combines are triv > 250, but then again my guild has a few 250 JC chanters with JC AA so it ain't so bad!
Then again the emblem IS returned on failure so it could be worse!

Went farming with a friend too, was about 1 in 3-5. But nasty buggers, they cast, they run, and add city from cliff top.

Agree with Lazurus - about a one in four drop rate. A batch of friends and I went through them twice from one end to the other and I got well over a stack of slime.

They are casters - can be done by two (tank/healer) at 58 if you are *very* careful (and still expect a wipeout at some point). Even a full party in the 50s can be high adventure if you get a lot of adds, as they are casters. Not the best exp, but still very good for high 50s.

              camp locale

curious where the best spot to camp these would be.

assuming a balanced party for CC, snare, healing and DPS (rogue/bst, pally, ench, cleric, ranger, random 6th member), would people recommend:
              [list]pulling slugs to the docks
camping them down at the south end of the river
camp and move (kill at each spawn point and move to next)
use lev and eb and pull to/kill in the river (assume a group that is versed in underwater fighting from many kedge raids)[/list:u]

If dock is open, pull to dock. Remember to snare. Don't remember for sure but IIRC, they gate too.

Pulling to the docks is best. The only problem is they have a tendency to run under the dock and attack you from below. Just move up to the shore and they'll follow. Oh yeah... alligators summon so be careful if you get one as an add.

Fighting near the south end of the lake is fine too, as long as the spiders don't bother you.

Fighting underwater is bad because there are fish. There aren't many fish at the north end of the lake, but there are plenty in the south.

I kill them on the NORTH end of the lake, just south of the hobgoblins.

It's a pain to pull them across, and a pain to pull them to the south end(because of pathing, sigh).

I drop down from the cliff with my group, kill the ones below, and set up.

I can't overstate the usefulness of a snarer when fighting these mobs, hehe.
As has been said, the slime drops commonly, so you'll have no problem getting enough in a short space of time.
Be sure to keep the leg/eyestalk/fin drops for the slug poppers, as these are needed for the best stat food in the game.
