Got my smithing to 185 the other night and ran out of leather padding. I had just drained the bazaar of all the components to make the stuff and was pretty worn out from all the combines, so I just couldn't stand the idea of farming the pelts and silks. I had spent the last week farming for shadowscream components so I decided to just use that for the rest of my skill ups. I had enough swirling shadows to do 65 combines, not too bad I figured. Plus the FS Plate was so close to trivial, I was getting poor skill ups that way anyhow. So I started to make shadowscream boots. Just 2 swirling shadows and a high trivial, I had hoped to get some good skill ups (with 250 str). I got just 2 out of all those attempts. SO I am wondering if it is worth it to go out and get a couple stacks of padding to get that last skill up in FS Plate before doing any more shadowscream. If not, does anyone have any advice on which mold (for shadowscream) to use? Maybe a gorget or bracer or something closer to trivial. I am aware of the "stay withing 20-50 points of trivial" to get the most skill ups, but that does not seem to work in all cases. I'm also aware of the fact that some tradeskills have a "wall" at certain levels ( I know brewing does around 180-200). I know I'm going to have a LOT of farming ahead of me for the making of shadowscream stuff, and I just don't want to waste any of that effort by doing combines that aren't likely to net me any significant skill ups. Please, anyone who has any advice on this subject, please post it.
Anyhow, good luck to all of you with all your combines, I know how tedious and frustrating it can be!
