  • [help] a problem about ogre cultural equipments

hi every one here,i'm a newbie in smithing world, and i found that this website may solve my problem about ogre cultural equipments.
now i'm a lv 55 ogre warrior(rallos-zek),and so i have very low int and cha,i think it will cost me lots time and pp to get my smithing skill up to the level that requied for my cultural equipment(since my smithing skill is 23 now.....).so i think,is it possible to create a new character such as a ogre shadow knight (rallos- zek) who has much better int and cha than a warrior to train skill and to make ogre warrior cultural equipments(rallos-zek)??
i'll be much appreciate if some one could give me a certain answer.

The rate of which you get improvement as a blacksmith is determined by either your int, wis or strength. In other words, you are well off as an ogre blacksmith as you have great starting strength.

Just buy 2 steins and a Kobold Jester's Crown and your CHA won't be a problem either.

Although STR is a factor in smithing, it isn't a factor in any other trade skills, so you may have a problem reaching the required skills in brewing and pottery (and to a lesser extent tailoring), which are also required for cultural tailoring.

If you really want to create a new character, then a Shaman would be better, since you will need someone to imbue the jade for your ogre cultural pieces.

If you want to do more than smith....

I would make an ogre shaman. If all you want to do is smith a warrior will be fine because of str.

Best smithing guide I have seen to date. Excellent resource. If you follow it, and farm your own materials, you won't need nearly as much money as some of the nightmares I have heard of.

If your even considering making a new character just to do smithing...consider making a human cleric of Ralos Zek. Once ya get the cleric to 30, you can imbune jade (one requirement down), and the human cultural armor is slightly better for an ogre warrior than the ogre cultural (why dose a warrior need mana anyways?).

However, as someone already pointed out, str is just as good as int/wis for smithing. Buy a little int/wis gear and get it over 100 to skill up to the mid 100s in brewing/tailoring/potery and your set. You don't even need to do brewing/tailoring/pottery but it saves time.
Tailoring, why did I ever start tailoring? *sob*

One problem: Human Clerics cannot follow Rallos Zek. The only priest class that can follow RZ are Ogre Shamans.

make ya an Ogre Shaman, pump up his wis, put the rest into str give him about 2k from your main and go shopping in bazaar, workk on cheap wis and str items. If ya can, get his/her str as close to 255 as possible, and wis a minimum of 101.

then head to POK buy fishing grubs and water, get his brewing to triv on combining those 2 (triv at 122)

                ]
ya want the shaman because you'll need to imbue alot of gems, you'll need to lvl him/her a bit.

                  stick with your WAR

I'd say since you've already put so much time into your Ogre WAR, stick with him and use him to smith. I'm a 58 Ogre SK and I'm at 246 right now. The "hardest" part of your Blue Diamond Ogre Cultural is bribing a Chanter to Enchant the Lg. Adamantite Bricks for you. The 2nd hardest will be getting Imbued Jade (which you SHOULD be able to buy in the bazaar or easily bribe a shammy, etc to do). Don't waste your time making another class to PL. Take pride in being a WAR smithy - you can easily smith by STR.

If you want to be self-sufficient, you'll need around:

151 brewing + geerlok (Fishing Grubs + Water, both sold in PoK. Then buy a Cyclops Skull and make Skull Ale)
                  - this is for making your own tempers

31 (or 51 recommended) Tailoring + geerlok(many ways. you can power tailor to 76 if you have the pp in SH)
                  - this is for making your own Leather Padding
                  - the reason I say 51 is if you stay @ 31 (Leather Padding Triv) you'll still fail about half the time. kinda sucks.

124ish Pottery (i followed the Guides posted here)
                  - this is for grinding down Blue Diamonds for tempers, or for making parts of the Mistletoe Sickle
                  - this is pretty much used on the higher end so you can wait on this one.

Other than that, just get a 255 str (Thick Banded Belt, etc), and 2 Opal Encrusted Steins (should get you to ~100ish CHA). With 255 STR, you DO NOT need INT or WIS (or even DEX). If someone tells you otherwise, they're wrong.

FYI, I did the brewing & pottery in a few hrs, so don't let those set you back. Yah, it takes a little bit longer cuz you're a brick, but it's worth it being able to say your main is a GM Smithy despite a few obstacles.

Noggs is right, but I'd emphasize borrowing some wisdom gear from friends etc to get your brewing and pottery and tailoring up faster, or it will take way longer than it should -- and also because you want to fail on things as little as possible. For instance, you'll need to be well above trivial, sometimes surprisingly far. Every combine failure costs you money, directly or indirectly. Lose a padding combine and that's 25pp on my server of value down the drain; lose a blue diamond and that's a few hundred out of your potential cash or tradestock value.

To that end I would also keep in mind to look on vendors for things you can use to help you skill up on the cheap -- like silks for tailoring and zombie skin, black wolf pelts, and puma skins for pottery(which will take you from 148 to 188 pottery very quickly, cheaply and easily on the three different types of poison vials). Buying what others cast aside can raise your skills very nicely in time.

To make the most of it, do get some wisdom gear though. The game is full of druids, all of whom need wisdom, so wisdom gear is actually very very cheap. And if you can't, ask a friend or three to borrow a piece or three; hopefully that won't be much of a problem. Personally, I wouldn't recommend trying for skill ups without at least 200 in wis/int/str or whatever a skill requires. And don't forget KEI can dramatically boost your wis/int. And a shaman can stack maniacal strength and focus(if he casts focus last) for your smithing skill ups, as well as primal essence(20 to all melee stats).

One last thing -- if you are thinking about powerleveling anything, you might want to powerlevel a porter to quickly check merchants. Your ogre can check Neriak's outer part for pottery and skins and silks, and a druid(who can buff your strength) or wizard would be good to run through good towns quickly, one port after another, gathering goodies. (A side benefit is they can later port your warrior around quickly, which sometimes is a lot quicker even than using POK stones to get around.) P.S. -- sometimes you make very nice finds this way too, like a blue diamond for 262 plat that you can either use or sell in the bazaar for much more, or fish rolls for 1 gold each that you can sell for 1pp each in the bazaar, or say a velium block for 40pp that you can sell in the bazaar for 80pp. These little things will add up to many thousands of plat for you over time.
