  • Smithing Trophy in Ammo Slot?

Well, the good news is NO MORE Shadowscream component farming!

While playing around with the trophy, equipping it in the various slots and seeing the effects, I noticed of course that the Ammo slot does NOT enable the increased stats that the hammer carries.

Which got me to thinking. Has anyone actually verified that the +5% to Smithing enhancement ACTUALLY APPLIES when the hammer is equipped in the Ammo slot?

Now, THAT would be a cruel hoax!

Stats, including skill mods, arent applied from the ammo slot.

I asked the same question earlier in this thread:

No reply. I'm not sure we can get a meaningful one because there's simply not enough info on fishing available.

Most tradeskills have a very definite "success" or "fail" per combine -- you either get the end product or you lose the components. There is no middle ground.

With fishing, though, you have multiple possible outcomes:

        - You catch nothing.
        - You get the "You caught, something..." message and some trash item.
        - You get the "You caught Rusty Dagger!" message and some trash item (a dagger, in this case).
        - You catch Fresh Fish.
        - You catch a zone-specific fish.

Which of these counts as a success and which as a failure? Even if we classify the last three cases as successes (based on the premise that the upbeat message indicates a good thing, rusty daggers not withstanding), how do we differentiate between the two types of failures? Until we nail this definition down, I don't see how we can get meaningful tests for the effect of fishing modifiers.

For any meaningful tests you'd have to do a lot of combines in tackle boxes. That way you do get a definite success/fail.
