Skill vs Geerlok

If 2 Smiths have identical stats , and one is skill level 238 with geerlok and the other is 250 with geerlok , doe the one with 250 + geerlok have a better chance of success on combines ?

Since 252 is the highest modified limit smithing can go, a 250 smith with a geerlok is effectively 252, and a 238 smith with a geerlok is only 250, so the 250 smith with a geerlok should do better.

However, after 240 + geerlok, you've reached the modified limit of 252.

So, I suppose, for all intents and purposes, there's no real reason to skill beyond 240 if you plan to use a geerlok. However, I know very few 240 smiths who would stop at 240; by then you really want to see 250 in your skills list.
