  • Agnostic armor

    Hi all,

Looking for smithy-crafted agnostic war ogre amour stats/recipes, to do it for a needed friend.
Already checked eqtraders receipes + allakhazam and cant find any armor similar to cultural.

I was told some pieces of agnostic armor are better in HPs than the cultural ones....true? which (names)?

    help btw, thanks

"Agnostic" ogre armor -- ogre cultural armor not imbued to a specific deity -- comes in only two flavors: regular (uses unenchanted adamantite) and imbued (enchanted adamantite with imbued gem). Regular armor (ogre war plate and ogre splintmail) has only AC and no stats. Imbued armor adds some stats. Compare the helms from the war plates:

    Ogre War Plate Helm
    AC: +14
    Weight: 9.0
    Classes: Shadowknight Warrior
    Races: Ogre Troll
    Inventory Slot: Head

    Imbued Ogre War Helm
    AC: +14 Int: +4 Magic Resist: +2
    Weight: 9.0
    Classes: Warrior Shadowknight
    Races: Barbarian Troll Ogre
Deity: Rallos Zek (same stats for Cazic-Thule)

All of the Darksplit and Darkscale armor must be imbued to Rallos Zek, Cazic Thule, or Innoruuk (Crimson, Fulvous, or Blackened respectively).

In no case that I am aware of is "agnostic" armor "better" than the imbued variety -- perhaps more appropriate for your toon, but not better. In some cultural armors, such as Dark Elven, cultural armor can come in three varieties: regular (uses unenchanted adamantite), enchanted (uses enchanted adamantite) and enchanted imbued (uses both enchanted adamantite and imbued gem). Even in the upper ranks there are unimbued and imbued versions of the Sovereign Chain and Regent Plate.

Teir'Dal Adamantite Breastplate (neither enchanted nor imbued): +20 AC
Teir'Dal Adamantite Breastplate (enchanted only): +26 AC +4 Str +10 Dex +4 Int
    Teir'Dal Adamantite Breastplate (enchanted and imbued) +26 AC +4 Str +10 Dex +4 Wis +4 Int +5

In the case of the Teir'Dal adamantite cultural plate (not Regent plate) adding the imbuing adds wisdom and one more point of intelligence -- important if I am making a cleric to wear it but perhaps not 105pp important if I am making it for a warrior or shadowknight; wisdom doesn't mean much to either class and only you can decide if an extra point of intelligence for your SK is worth 105pp for the sapphire.

However, in the case of the Regent plate, imbuing it will add wisdom, intelligence, and/or agility. It's extremely variable so you need to know what you need and what you are buying or making.

My only point in bringing up the Dark Elven examples is that it is a good example of the fact that so-called "agnostic" armor (I prefer unimbued armor as a term) is never a better product than the imbued versions (perhaps in some cases imbuing is not strictly necessary, depending upon what it adds, but it is never better). I also looked over the armors of other races and have not yet found an instance where imbuing the armor actually made the armor worse.

However, in dwarven plate, it is possible to imbue the armor without enchanting it. Imbued unenchanted armor is better than unimbued and unenchanted armor, but not better than enchanted unimbued armor. But enchanted imbued armor is even better than that. (hope you managed to follow that).

    Well, here is an example:

    - Dwarven Plate Greaves (unenchanted unimbued) +14 AC +4 vsFire
    - Imbued Dwarven Plate Greaves (unenchanted imbued) +14 AC +4 Wis +4 vsFire
    - Enchanted Dwarven Plate Greaves (enchanted unimbued) +16 AC +8 Str +8 Sta +2 vsMg +4 vsFire
    - Imbued Enchanted Dwarven Plate Greaves (enchanted imbued) +20 AC +8 Str +8 Sta +4 Wis +2 vsMg +4 vsFire

In this case, imbuing unenchanted added +4 wisdom. Enchanting and not imbuing removed wisdom but added +2 AC, +8 STR, +8 STA and +2 SvMagic. Enchanting and imbuing added +4 AC and added back the +4 wisdom.

Don't forget PoP player made armor.

        Stats are on http://www.eqtraders.com/secrets/PoP_stats.htm

Check out Night Terror Plate and Hurricane Plate.

The Night Terror Plate is no toooo bad to get the components for. Hurricane Plate is TOTAL pain in the ass to try to get the temper components as 1) people probably dont know what Drops of Pure Rain are for or 2) those that do try to charge 3 to 5kpp each in the bazaar.

Owing to the large numbers of tempers needed for some Plate pieces, it's more profitable to use the tempers to make Chain armor to sell.
So you would have to commission a smith to make plate I would guess.

Also note the reduced stats til level 61.
