  • Tae Ew Skill-up rates

I am loving the Tae Ew Shields, Weapons and Armors.
It seems to me that the skill-ups are coming much more frequently with this path.
    I did 40 Imbued Field Plate Helms twice(80 combines) with 1 skill-up at 215.
    I did 25 Luminant Heraldic Pieces and got 1 skill-up at 221. (Made 1 BP, 2 Bracers, 1 Boots, 1 Greaves )

But I have done 60 Tae Ew Shields, 5 Tae Ew Long Swords, 3 Tae Ew Leggings and 6 Tae Ew Chain Tunics for ---- 8 skill-ups in 74 combines.

I am averaging about 6 or 7 combines a day so I am giving up on all other paths.
No more fishing seaweed, no more farming swirlies, no more windstones or ahkeva blood. SWEET!!
Oh and if you are wondering, the answer is yes. I'm now very well equipped as are many of my guildies. :P
I certainly hope your experiences are as fruitful my friends.

I resent that statement. I am providing information on a viable skill up path. I have read you posts and you do the same thing in several. You list your successes for bows and armors.
I have spent months getting my trade skills up to a respectable level. Now that I am working in the high end combines I am providing the same information that others supply. I have heard that it is unusual for someone to use this skill-up path as the components are hard to come by(you have posted that statement yourself btw). As such, letting others know of my results is a natural reaction to the help, advise, and encourgement I have received from the others on this and other message boards.
I did include 1 sentence that spoke of my financial success and the "uberness" of my guild mates but that was something anybody would think about when they see how many combines I have done. At a 70+% success rate I have had to get rid of alot of stuff.
Also, I do buy my Iksar and Tae Ew bloods in the bazaar so it is very expensive and I have poured 100's of thousands of plat into this endeavour over the last month or so.

My guess is that you've been lucky with the random number generator when doing Tae Ew. Zoph went an average 25-27 combines per skill-up to get from 242 to 250 on Mistletoe Cutting Sickles. Meanwhile Gar didn't do any sickles after 243, and went from 243 to 250 on probably under 100 cultural combines - I remember one run of like 8 pieces that I got 2 skill-ups in (oh, happy day!).

Tae ew is a good choice - but the biggest thing is simply to click that combine as often as possible and 'roll dem bones'!

              Tae Ew

I have equipped all my Guilds chain wearers and sheild bearers with CT gear (starting on weapons now, armour was first) after raids for blud etc in CT. Thats a lot of peices, and many happy Pal/Sk/Dr/Cl, Rangers and Shammies I might add.

I got one skill up off a sheild. Have been 234 for over 100 combines now. :x

At least at 54lvl raids for blood are giving me exp

Well I have the reverse for that. I have done 45 total combines on Tae Ew shields, tunics, legs and have gotten 1 pt. Compared to freak luck I got 4 pts on 11 Fierce Heraldic combines. and 3 pts on 20 Sickles. It all is based on what you do and how often you do it. The RNG can be loving or hateful depending on the day/hour.

A friend asked me to do 14 combines for him of various CT smithing. I was amazed at the luck of getting 3 pts, and going 234 to 237 on those 14 combines.

The market for that stuff has crashed pretty hard on my server; but maybe I will try to scrape out a Tae Ew combine here and there. Shadowscream is murderously slow even with a monk doing much of my killing for me.

I've been doing Imbued Field Plate from 220 to 230.. got 5 skill ups on 2 stacks the other night

I also made Salubrious Heraldic Bracer 1/3, Boots 1/1, an Fine Heraldic Breastplate 1/1 at 220 with a trophy last week.

Then I did some combines on Fine Seafarers Armor. Got 2/4

I have to admit I was highly surprised to say the least. Either way I know what I'm going from 240 to 250 with. Those Fine Sea Farers bracers. Blue Diamonds are uberly cheaply now. hehehe..

Cheaper than what I was making basically.

Just keep in mind that while you could sell Imbued Field Plate back to merchants, they will pull up their noses for the Blue Diamond armors. They offer at most 9cp or so ...
