  • How come no-one makes Fine Seafarer's Armor?

I see heraldic armor for sale all the time in the bazaar. Why is the Freeport equivalent for the chain classes practically naver made/sold?

Really? I would think that for chain-wearers, it would be pretty nice.

          *nod* It sucks.
There are much better alternatives for chain classes now.

It's crap-tastic, especially since better, cheaper items drop more often than the components, and the sheer ease of Tae Ew armors...

You guys are mostly correct, however....
(Note this is from a Shaman's perspective mostly).

Some pieces of Fine Seafarers are less than wonderful.
Some pieces of Tae Ew totally suck (*cough* boots/bracer/gloves/ *cough*). Hmm infact most pieces except for Tunic/legs...
Some pieces of Fine Seafarers ARE quite good.

Check out these two pieces of Fine Seafarers:
              Cloak AC 14, WIS 5, HP 40, mana 40
              Skirt(Belt) AC 15, WIS 5, HP 40, mana 40

Now those stats are identical to the BD cultural chain most shaman races get.
Some of the other pieces of Fine Seafarers might be ok as well for races that lack Cultural they can wear (i.e. Frogluk shaman's) as they have decent AC/HP/Mana - just no +wis except cloak/skirt.

Having sold a few Barbarian Chain Skirts and Cloaks, I would imagine there is a similar market for Fine Seafarers. Of course it depends how much you charge. If you asked TOO much for a Cloak people might just pay the extra plat to get a Heiro Cloak.
Once those Frogluk shaman get up a few levels they are gonna want decent belts and cloaks....

Cloaks are 3 ring pieces. I'm not sure how much heiro cloaks run on your server, but they are well under standard 3 ring prices on Stormhammer (yeah, I know, stormhammer). The one ring belt competes well with a belt of dripping bile (picked one up for ~4k yesterday), but, and I may be off base here, ~4k for one ring and ~15k for 3 ring BD cultural is not going to motivate people to make it. Not when they can turn their BDs into fierce heraldic.

Though the BD armour market in general is crashing hard, I expect once the price points get down enough we will start to see some fine seafarer's. Right now, it's a waste of blue diamonds.

It's not so much that the pieces SUCK, it's just that it's not profitable to make them.

Yep, I agree its all about pricing.

As I like seeing shaman in good gear, I've been selling BD Chain Cloaks(3 rings)/Belts(2 rings) for 10kpp. (Given I get BD's for 300pp each).

As Heiro cloaks run about 20k on The Tribunal, 10k BD chain cloaks are probably quite a good deal. (Heiro cloaks were about 20k->25kpp on Torvon as well before I xfered)

I'd probably never sell a cloak at 15k when they can pay a few k more and try to get a heiro cloak cheap.

Also for a human smith I imagine there is way more plat to be made from Heraldic armors.

Each server's economy is different though! Especially Stormhammers!

Well, on the upside, it would let us human smiths make armor withour using essence of sunlight. Honestly, my biggest obstacle in making heraldic is the tempers, not the BD or any other item.

I may try a few pieces, as I have about 45 sea tempers lying around, that I had planned to use for skillups on field plate.
