  • Somebody shoot me..

Ok, when I saw this.. I thought cool, a store bought route to 200 from my current 187 (not prepared to spend AA points atm, and I'm a GM brewer)

Bar of Enchanted Pure Velium: (Forge, trivial > 250)
    Enchanted Bar of Velium
    Enchanted Bar of Velium
    Enchanted Bar of Velium
    Purified Water
    Coldain Velium Temper
    Coldain Smithy Hammer
I thought yay, ok, so it's going to be expensive, but at least the resale value of the EPV is going to be ok.

So I trundles over to Eastern Wastes, blows a Tain Hammerfrost spawn, camp, come back a few hours later, finds him up again (**** he was so hard to find when I wanted him for my Dain Rings... but I digress).

Suitably rescues him gets his Coldain Smithy Hammer (I'm guessing it's a recipe error making us use that, but who knows), wanders over to Thurgadin, buys 3 stacks of Velium bars at 5250pp/stack. Gates back to PoK to make some Celestial Essences for the water and the Velium Temper (I already had 3 stacks of Coldain Heater stashed on a mule, so thought I'd save myself some money.. pfft)

Logs my chanter in to do the combines, 15 minutes later, I start the combines, get a skill up on the FIRST combine.. wooohoo, and nothing for the next 19

But at least I've now got 4 Bars of Enchanted Pure Velium I can put on the bazaar toon for 6K to recoup the cost, assuming the vendor buy back is horrendous.. Then the shock realisation that they're NO-DROP.

AARRRRGGGGHHHHH.... almost 16K for 1 skill up, and no means to recoup my expenditure...

Repeat after me.. there's no such thing as a free ride. ops:

So are you saying that it went trivial at 188 or you just failed combines..IF you just failed then this would be a good way for people who have pleanty of cash to spend to level up their skill.

No, it was still none-trivial, so in theory yes, if you want to spend 15k per 20 combines it's a viable option.

        You're welcome.

        Next!

Seriously, that's just nasty. Me, I'd have stopped short the moment I saw three Velium bars in the combine, never mind the rest.

I'm also trying to push smithing over 200 (mostly so I can do the other tradeskills and not worry about accidentally hitting 201 with one of them! ) but I'm focusing on Freeport human cultural. Not too expensive, but easier to farm than Shadowscream for me. My in-game wife, a druid, likes to play with the Seafury cyclops in OoT, so while she kills them for exp (and mugs of sea foam), I fish for seaweed.

Ahhh but the poster is a Half elf... only route is Shadow Scream. I too am pushing for GM and doing Cultural.

There is also acrylia plate/chain. I know everyone says the materials are too rare use for skilling, but I did nore acrylia from 199 to 210 than I did old cultural.

If you have the windstones, why not do acrylia? Big problem here is getting the windstones. All in all, their a time sink compaired to doing shadowscream (which is saying alot!).
Tailoring, why did I ever start tailoring? *sob*

Well itisn't't to terribly rough if you have the platinum to spend and is a fast way to get some neccessiary points you will need if you have a 15% smiting modifier. I used this combo to go from 188-192 (41 combines) then did 192-212 on ee rings then 212-218 to max my smithing modified at 250 skill..Cost was just under 100k to get 188-218 so if you have the cash it is the way to go in my opinion.

That's when it's great to play on Firiona Vie. I know of exactly one NO-DROP item.
