  • Windstones...best place to find???

Ok, I am sure this discussion has taken place b4 even tho I could not find the past link. Where is the best place for windstone drops? I currently spend hours in the Grimling mines in TM and get 2-3 every trip. There has to be a place where these stones drop at a faster pace.

They are selling in the Bazaar on CT for @200pp

    Let me know

The problem is they are pretty **** rare even in the "good" spots.

Are you pharming them to make armor for skillups? If so its possibly the worst way in existance to skill up
I would check out Shadowscream or maybe some intermedary cultural (what race are you btw?).

If you are making armor/weaps for friends etc or sale (is there a market still?) then I think TM Mines are one of the good places. The think the other is the north area in Twightlight Sea (reached via an underwater tunnel).

There was thread not too long ago called "Windstone drop discrepancies" or something, maybe if you search on Windstone again if might pop up.

Late to an Ssra raid one night, I ported to Twilight and ran thru Scarlet Desert to save some time. I'm running thru and the guild says to hold on while they check the spawns. So I run around and kill some red aliens and stuff, and got 2 Windstone drops in 2 kills. /shrug

Haven't been back since, but who knows. I mighta just been lucky

Windstones can drop from the earth elementals in Twilight Sea. They randomly drop several Luclin gems, and Windstone happens to be on their loot table. FWIW, the air elementals drop the Essence of Wind too.

So far, I've not found any place with windstone drops that you'd call "fast," "decent," "good," or even "reasonable."

Anyone who uses acrylia as a skill up path, you have my admiration and sympathy. As bad as shadowscream is, it's better than acrylia, especially now that the shadows are no longer No Rent.

As bad as shadowscream is, its the easiest path.
If you have a few hundered thousand plat to blow on smithing, you can do siclkes till your blue in the face.
In the time it takes to farm 100 combines for shadowscream armor, you would of been able to farm maybe 20 windstones. Not 20 combines worth of windstones, 20 stones which is enough for 10 combines. When your hunting windstones a drop rate of 1 per hour is average :? , 2 is good , and 3 is unheard of.
The next best rout for getting into the 200s is old world cultural armor (or BD cultural if your a HE  , morning dew is such a pain to farm that its actualy easier to suck the hit on a BD to save on morning dew!)

            Ok, my opinion and observations.
hehe, forgot last option. Farm CT for Tau Ew blood, Farm OS or Dulak for Iksar blood, buy sarnak and frogloc blood from vendors/bazaar. Make shields. It's a high level rout and time consuming, but kinda fun and no farming greens. Takes alot longer than doing Shadowscream but hey, you wern't trying to become a GM smith over night, were ya?
Tailoring, why did I ever start tailoring? *sob*

Last night we got 3 windstones in 45 minutes in UP. Just one group. Then I got bored and made everyone leave.

What do you mean, "BD cultural if you're a HE"? My acronymn decoder is broken atm.

                      cheers,
