  • Tae Ew Shield combine question

    i know that the shield is trivial at 250, but what is the least skill lvl one could most likely succeed? I tried once at 196, but failed. guess i was hoping for a lucky combine lol.

    The shield is not trivial at 250 skill.

    You would have to be well over 200 to have a 50-50 shot at making one on a single combine. I'd guess in the 220-230s, but that is exactly that - a guess.

          Tae Ew Combines

          I have a 172 skill plus geerlock atm (effective skill of 180) so I figure my percentage is:

          Percentage = (skill - (triv*.75)) + 51.5
          Percentage = (180 - (251? * .75)) + 51.5
          Percentage = 43.25%

          So with 3 attempts I should have a decent chance. I will personally go 4 or 5 just to be more sure.

            That assumes it's exactly 251. It could be 300. The best guess I'd make is that Perseverance is 224+5percent or 235 effective, and has 70 percent then at 180 effective, you would be 15 percent.

              Also remember the RNG is streaky. With 226 skill, I averaged about 70% also making Tae ew items. However, I did have a run of ZERO out of SIX. I also had a run of 8 straight successes.

              Remember when smithing ANY of the high end stuff, BE PREPARED FOR MULTIPLE FAILURES. If you are not, you will surely be disappointed.

              P.S. also has a run of 0/7 on luminant heraldic boots. That was after I went 3/4 making fierce heraldic BP, Greaves, and boots. Naturally, it was the Luminant boots I really wanted. Figured I had plenty of materials to make them

              But I agree with the previous poster. I wouldn't expect more than maybe 10-15% success at your skill level.

                Same thing here; recently tried a full suit of Fierce Heraldic for someone, 220 skill (231 with Geerlok). Succeeded on BP and Greaves on first go, but after 6 attempts I have yet to make the Cloak (last piece I need to make, grrr). It's just the RNG ...

                As for the Tae Ew Shields, at 218-220 skill, I have been making 7 so far out of 10 attempts (or 9, I thought 10), so I am personally at about 70% success rate. However, hearing from others, I am very lucky. Again, it's the RNG.

                    well

                    Based on everyone's success rates, I wouldn't think that the shield's triv. is really near 300. But you are very correct, it could be much higher as the RNG is a beast and, as such, is difficult to predict.

                    That being said, my experiences with tradeskills (not immense but did 8 shawls worth of tradeskilling) is that failure is much more noticed then success. So I figure I will make 4 attempts in my first pass and see what happens. I am not making a shield for profit, making one for myself. And hey, worst case, I need to go farm CT some more.

                    I was just stretching my "percentage change of success" legs and taking a shot at what my chances would be.

                    Wish me luck!

                      Sheild

                      At 234/245 (Trophy) I average 80% over about 80 combines although before the supposed "nerf patch" I was 19 for 20 (fluke?).

                        Tae Ew armors have a really high success rate. I would guess very close to 250 trivial. In 45 attempts i would guess i have failed about 4 times on shields/tunics.

                            The FAQ. It's a result of a lot of math by Laurefin and Ishwar.
