  • Death of Shadowscream?

    Hi, all...

I checked on my server today (Solusek Ro) and noticed that swirling shadows were selling for 65 to 100pp each in the bazaar. Do you think this price is going to hold (considering that humming orbs are either no-drop uncombined or unstackable combined)? And have you noticed an increase in how often shades and shadows have been camped recently since the patch that made swirling shadows rentable?

I'm worried that the last good cheap skillup route is about to die because they changed swirling shadows. Any thoughts?

    BUAHAHAHA!!!

If they sold for that much...

The newbies would be killing those lvl 8 skellies in a limosine, bending out the window with a sub-machine gun, blast the hell out of em, then proceed to loot the corpses as they shower their many prostitutes with cash and make rabid love.

Imagine a large clump of people in a pool with alkaseltzer, you get the idea.

Honestly, Shadows aren't that hard to farm, /shrug.

they were FOR SALE for that, not necessarily selling for that. I wouldnt pay a dime over 15p, and thats cause I'm rich.

I have seen very few Swirling Shadows for sale on Tarrew Marr, and when I did (8 for 25pp each) they sat there for 3 days...

The Shadows in T.S are not being camped 24/7, nor are the Shades. On Tarrew Marr, at least, the removal of the no-rent flag, seems to be all things considered positive for the Shadowscream Smiths.

Death of Shadowscream, I highly doubt it.

People, swirling shadows arent THAT hard to get; unlike Windstones, Swirling Shadows drop all over the place, usually rot, or get sold to a vendor. 65~100pp apice is an outrage/

The only swirling shadows I've seen move have been my own Nizanko...at 20 plat each :P Course I only pick some up when I actually go shadeling silk hunting, which is why you don't see me sell them often...

While I don't expect people are buying at that price, once the perceived price gets set it is very hard to move. I'd personally like to track down and have unkind words with person that started that price. And windstones may be stupid rare, but at 200pp each it's cheaper to do BD combines.

Personally, shadows are uncamped and I've accumulated 10 or so from vendors so far.

On Inny, I have seen maybe, at most, 8 shadows being sold at once. I have seen a few people trying to sell them for 50+ but it's the same people and so far it doesn't look like they have moved.

I won't buy them for anything close to that price. I might consider paying 5-10pp each but shadowscream sells for such terrible resale it's not worth it.

I haven't checked the local vendors recently -- but I DID find EIGHT Essence of Shadow on a PoK vendor this morning! <does the tradeskill happy dance>

Currently the ones for 100pp are "gone" (probably meaning the vendors are camped out), but somebody has 82 of them up for 70pp each. I'll keep you all posted on what happens with them.

I think most people who are going that route in smithing know how easy the camp is and wont pay that much for them.

Its like paying 70pp for Bonechips if you ask me.

Then again...i can clear whole island in under 2 minutes

I've seen some sell them for 50 to 100p on my server too, but it's in the same small quantity each time. It doesn't look like it's selling at that price. I found 70 for 20p each once and bought them of course.

For the effort to get the shadows, they are not worth 50p. And if you compare with Sickles, it's not worth it either. 50p for each component translates to 200p total cost for making vendor trash. Sickles are 330p but then you have the chance of getting a valuable sellable item.

I've noticed that the Hollowshade, Twilight Sea and Shadeweaver camps have been a lot more busy after the shadows were made droppable. And it's mainly the smithers who have been inspired by the change to work up their skill. I've bought 5-6 stacks of shadows in the bazaar so far at 20p or lower and have found around 2 stacks total on merchants. I've also bought a few stacks directly from other people. So far the change have been positive for me. Getting a camp takes more effort, but it's more than compensated by not having to farm all the shadows myself.

Considering that a level 10 character could farm shadeweaver thicket all by his little lonesome, and a level 30 could clear out the whole zone of shades and almost keep up with the respawns...swirling shadows might be a good subsitute for CB belts imho. Need cash as a newbie? Farm shades for an hour and get maybe 100pp worth of swirling shadows (I'd probably pay 10pp each...if I was going this rout). Thats a fortune as far as real newbs are concerned. Then again, if they knew what the bazaar was they could make a fortune from spiderling silk, bone chips, and pelts...

side comment: on Fennin Ro a friend of mine sold all of the windstones that I had for 400pp each...BDs go for about 400pp on Fennin, go fig. I guess I'll skill up on cultural(?!?).
Tailoring, why did I ever start tailoring? *sob*

They are selling QUICKLY on Xev for between 15-100pp. Very active trade, but I suspect only a few people are actively seeking them, it seems to go in spurts. But at 75pp or 100pp I am willing to bet they are selling them.

I think I'll sell my shadows then... takes about an hour to get a stack, and then sell the stack for 2k =p...

It's easy to get them but honestly, after banging your head against a wall for so long, buying them for many is really a pretty small price to pay and still hundreds of plat cheaper then Acrylia, Cultural or Sickles. I personally buy mine now....not for 100pp but I do buy them because after running 2 wars for the no drop stuff I just dont have time to sit and kill hundreds of Skeletons and I can't do Shades easily. I suspect many are in the same boat, or just so rich they don't care.
