  • Shrieking substances now NODROP

There goes my revenue stream, not to mention the additional tedium for those wishing to learn on Shadowscream--you'll have to farm yer own substances now.

Thankfully I sold a stack of 18 earlier today...as I left Bazaar, I crashed to the desktop. Upon return to Norrath, I cheerfully went to my favorite hunting ground, Hollowshade Moor. I'm just 18, and the Sonics to the south give me a great fight, great experience, and nice loot (substances).

It was with great dismay that I tried to loot my first one..."Are you sure you want to loot this NODROP item?"

Ummm shrieking and wailing substances always have been NODROP.

Or are you on some weird special rules server???

Or are you just "pulling our legs"? That was my first guess.

If you are being serious, you can still make the droppable, unstackle humming orbs to sell but I doubt its worth the effort (trivial at 168) just to make some plat.

      "taking a piss"??????

      WTF is that?

And yes, sorry, I am on Firiona Vie...almost everything here is NODROP.

Guess this is a special audience question...I'll go over to the FV board...

Actually you should probably /bug that problem.

It might have been an accident that they did that.

Are special items used for quests normally nodrop on FV?

Also, just out of curiosity, what do shrieking and wailing substance sell for on FV? We've often wondered what would happen if they become droppable on regular servers.

I did go back to hunting sonics and collecting the substances, in case it was an accident and is changed back. I'll try the /bug route, Zhorn, thanks. Also, I like hunting outside against worthy opponents such as the Sonics.

What i meant, though you understood Zhorn, is that almost everything on FV is droppable. There are very few quest items that maintain their NODROP tag... one example i know of is the cape dropped by Quillmane for the mage epic...it is droppable, and sells for between 50 and 100k, I believe.

I sell Shrieking and wailing substances for 30 plat each, very quickly.

I got so fed up with smithing that I rerolled so as to not be tempted to continue in that dreadful compulsion, but did learn how valuable they are. I think I provide a useful service to those with substantial financial resources.

hmmm....well, I camped to the character select screen, and when I reentered Norrath, I checked the substance...it's droppable now.

            ops:

              Wow that is weird

Good to hear its back to normal now! It sucks when a source of income drys up! $$

Yes I had heard most things on FV were droppable, just wasn't sure how widespread it was, thanks for clearing that up!

Almost all items on FV server are droppable. Especialy quest items as FV origionaly had a non-trivial loot code server wide. (i.e. if you wern't getting xp from this mob, you also arn't getting drops from it. No farming.) I've herd that the trivial loot code has been taken out (too many complaints, probably the dam trade skillers whining about silk or some such nonsense) but it was the origional reason why the removed no-drop from almost everything.

Hehe, wish they would do that on my server
Tailoring, why did I ever start tailoring? *sob*

FYI: Trivial Loot Code is still alive and well on FV

It really is a mixed blessing, having things NODROP, but also having TLC

Trivial loot code is still in place. However, it only applies to unique, magic items. You can still farm skins and silks and such.

FV and the Appearing No Drop tag

Sometimes when you log in, zone, go LD or just trade with someone items that would be No Drop on normal servers suddenly regain their No Drop flag on Firiona Vie.

Just camp and return and the items will revert to their tradeable status.

Its quite frequent - would happen to me once a month or so. Quite scary when someone lends you their jboots for a 'hit' then you cant give them back!
