  • Hollowshade War (or, farming shadowscream ain't so bad)

We play on Test. Last night we went to an empty Hollowshade after a server drop (which tends to happen every night about the time I log on, and often a time or two more in the week before a patch). All three factions were up.

We waited for the grimlings to get attacked, the owlbears were kind enough to oblige. I would pull half the south island or so with Lottsa and Handor would blow them to bits with a PBAOE. Then do the other half. Poor Handor spent more time looting than anything else! Rinse and repeat a few times. Had over 75 substances when the wolves decided they'd like to migrate south. Made sure they didn't get lost and soon we're farming wolves.

Wolves hit a little harder, stun more often, and all the shaman casters make things a little more entertaining to AOE. But we ended up with over 75 substances as well off them. So we head to Twilight about two hours after logging on to start farming 150 shadows.

In the end, we ended up getting most of the 75 smithing attempts gathered up in one night. When we were working up tinkering or tailoring we were thrilled if we could get 50 attempts together in a week...

I've read others' comments about the War and how you can't reset the zone. I had the wolves win the whole war and the prince spawned in the outpost, killed him (he dropped a cloak with 8 agi 8 hps and haste in it). Zone reset just fine. This was on Test, so hopefully whatever they fixed ports to prod servers soon.

Someone else mentioned that they were bringing the zone down repeatedly over the last few weeks and asking for people to come help test it (on test). If it is working correctly now, that will be very nice and make me a very happy smith. Assuming they patch it on this next patch.

Is that a typo? Or was it really 8 hitpoints?

        cloak

Sorry, don't recall the exact name of the cloak off the top of my head...
had some AC, plus 8 agi and 8 hps. and haste (not sure what level). If I remember correctly -- I could be wrong, at the time I was pretty tired and just trying to reset the zone.

Was no drop, on a 7 minute corpse. /shrug

Hmmm H.S could become quite interesting, if the war starts working it could generate alot of interest from other players all of a sudden.

That could be a bad/good thing...

Probably not enough to worry about. Most people have already seen and done HS... and fixing the war wouldn't really bring anything new to the scene. At worst, for a week or two after it's brought to folks' attention by the patch message we might see a few more folks changing the war for kicks.

I'm personally looking forward to a fix very much.

Actually,it'd make me a happy camper if HS worked as intended.

People wouldn't scream about farming, because you can just bust the boss and reset the zone.

And they all had some nice stuff for 35-45 people or higher in there,too-but nobody does the boss anymore because the war is bah-roken.

Yay for fixes-it'll make shadowscream a lot more sane to do.

And all the Vah Shir can stop Kvetching that their progressive quests are being hijacked by SS farmers.

                Yay for everybody!

Still haven't seen the farmers selling swirling shadows for inflated prices. In fact, I still haven't seen anyone killing the shadows or the lesser shades.

Please try not to be so alarmist.

Um did anyone notice the part about the shadows drop rate.
So if I read you right you said they increased the Drop Rate?

                      Shadow drop rate

I don't know what the normal shadow drop rate is.

It took 4-5 hours to get over 150 swirling shadows, if that helps?

So total of about 6-7 hours to get 75 smithing attempts gathered up (other than the metal rings, etc. which are minimal effort). After working up tailoring to 250, this seems pretty darn painless...

Hopefully the zone is fixed for y'all on prod soon!!

                        NDA?

I dont'at want to stiff off any more good news, but I think you are breaking the theoretical NDA that accompanies playing on Test by telling us this. However, I am happy as a troll now. SS is much better alternative for skilling up post 188, and almopst free except for time.

I'm pretty sure there's no NDA, theoretical or otherwise, that applies to Test information and players. Just the implicit (and sometimes explicit) understanding that there's absolutely no guarantee that anything that happens on Test will ever happen on any other server.

I'd love to see Hollowshade fixed. I'm at 201 smithing, and have made almost 400 attempts at acrylia and old Dwarven Cultural without a skill up.

I just can't do that anymore. It's to expensive! I'd rather take the time to do shadowscream, and if I can suddenly reset it like we're supposed to be able to, that would be unbelieveable lucky! WOOT!

I am not. Please if you are going to quote somebody, don't make up points.

The war working has nothing to do with farmers, thats your point not mine. It has to do with people wishing to participate in the war. Hence a busier zone.

If anyone is being alarmist, well its you I am afraid. You made an interpretation of my post, that was not correct.
