Just realized that Ariene is a 65 Archon (cleric I belive), and probably as a Wis over 255. Having a wis over 255 dose not help with skill ups. However, a wis over 255 dose effect success rate. Its still interesting data, and I'd like to continue seeing it. I'd also like to know what her Wisdom is and what her success rate is with combines (about what ratio of succeess within each 10 skill point block with what trivial).

You have it exactly backwards.

The only thing that affects success in making items is your skill. That's why it's good to use a geerlok even if it lowers your str/wis/int or whatever you're using to skill up with if you are more interested in getting a product than anything else. You will thereby lower your chance for a skill-up if your stats are no longer maxed(or lessened) when you equip a geerlok.

What helps you get skill-ups is having higher wis/int/str or whatever your tradeskill requires for skill-ups(like dex for fletching, I think).

Just the opposite. Higher Wisdom does lead to more skill ups but not success of making the item. I have confirmed with developers at a fan faire that stats over 255 does effect the skill up as well, just in case someone was wondering.
