  • Smithing Chisel

It says under the rescipe outlining how to turn large bricks into smaller to use a smithing chisel.....I see that listed no where in any other part of they guide. Perhaps I am just missing it somewhere...but if now...how do you make it and/or buy it?

      DON'T DO IT.

A smithing chisel is a waste of money because it allows you to waste more money.

You combine 3 small pieces into 1 small brick right? So by applying a chisel, you should get 3 small pieces back out of 1 small brick ...

      WRONG.

With almost all ore, you get 1:1. That is, if you chisel down a block, you get 1 large brick. If you chisel down a large brick, you get 1 small brick. If you chisel down a small brick, you get 1 piece (although I believe for acrylia, at least, you get 2 small pieces, which is still a ripoff).

For ore that you buy, just pay attention and buy the right size. Sell back that you don't need. You're money ahead.

For expensive ore that you forage, like velium or acrylia, if you don't need the larger styles (block or large brick) and need the smaller ones, for God's sake sell the big ones -- don't waste your money by chiseling them down -- and use the proceeds to buy what you need. Or, better yet, LOOK AHEAD to what you may be making later.

For example, with acrylia -- if you need pieces for making studs for tailoring, but all you have is blocks, turn those blocks into folded sheets of acrylia you can use to make acrylia armor down the road. Folded sheets stack and you're saving for your future.

      Chisels are just wasteful.

well when i go velium piece farming, i tend to keep the large bricks for alternate purpose (making velium rings for my cultural smithing), but whenever I get small bricks, I dont mind choppin them down into small pieces at all. I agree if you're gonna chop down the bricks, dont chop down the larger ones (large, block etc); you can sell them or use them for different things. But it's not all that wasteful to chop down the small bricks
