  • New smithing guide - reviewers wanted

I have written a "beginner to grandmaster" comprehensive smithing guide (currently about 50 pages in PDF format) that discussing in some depth various aspects of smithing, suggests skilling paths, documents actual prices for skilling (cost to make and sell) and discusses advantages and disadvantages of various paths. I have had four smiths other than myself who have used this skilling path and so far the responses have been quite positive. (One of them used it to skill PAST me!)

I would very much appreciate having some experienced smiths out there review the document and provide comments, feedback, corrections, etc. I would like to add a section about EE smithing for the 212+ but I have little experience in that area and will need some guidance.

All reviewers will be acknowledged in the finished version and I plan to make the guide available to anyone who wants it after it is completed.

I have made revisions up to and including the fact that swirling shadows are norent.

If you would be willing to be a reviewer, please send me an email at zeralenn@crimsonsnow.org. Let me know your character name, server, and current smithing level in your email. I will send the document to you in PDF format and happily await your comments.

Not sending out guide until second edition reviewed

At thist time, I am not sending out any more copies of Edition 1 of the smithing guide.

First, I am deep in the revision of the second edition. The second edition includes most new sections and data as suggested by those reviewers who have responded. Enough has changed between the two editions that I no longer feel the first edition is good enough to send out.

Second, I have sent out 21 copies for reviews and so far have only received four responses (thank you, Kiztent, Velurian, Feroce, and Ilishar for your extensive and very welcome input). Many of the folks who are asking for the guide now are very, very low-level smiths who probably want to use this guide, and the guide in its current form is Not Quite Ready for Prime Time.

During the next week I will be sending out the second edition for review but only to those individuals who sent me responses to the first edition. Those of you who still have copies of the first edition I sent out who would like to be in on the second round, please send me your comments for the first edition.

Probably after the second edition revisions are complete, I will be submitting this guide to our beloved Den Mother for consideration, and if she agrees it is worthy of posting, it will be available to anyone who wants or needs it.
