  • Silvered Halberds

Just a FYI, as the patch message said, smithed Silvered weapons now sell for less. Lots less.

For instance, Silvered Halberds used to sell for 152p 4g, now they sell for 57p 5g 3s 1c... (A little above cost of materials, but with failures, could break even, maybe.)

There goes my cash cow. Used to be able to make 10k a night selling these back to merchants. Hard as heck to make (as well as boring), and took multiple mules, but kept a small guild well equipped for awhile.

Which is exactly why it was changed. SOE is clear on the policy that tradeskilled items should not sell at a profit to vendors. I hope you enjoyed your cash cow while it lasted.

P.S. My cash cow back in the day was Cabilis Scale Mail with my little Iksar alt. I was sad (but not surprised) when they changed that one too.

I just wish I could learn of one when they do exist. I am in dire need of a cash influx!

The only one I know of is making the cultural needles. You should be able to make a high-elf needle for under 5pp, and sell it for over 9pp. Not exactly a way to get rich. And I did not check if it was nerfed yet.

They are not race restricted. My halfling druid made the elf needles because cinnamon sticks are so easy to get in bazaar. Under LoY recipes there's a whole list of different items that can be used.

LOL - soon as I saw that note on the patch I just knew that apparently one silver weapon must be selling back to the merchants for some descent plat!

If it makes you feel any better though, most likely you weren't the reason it got nerfed - some macrophile probobly figured it out and sold a few thousand back to the same merchant in less than a week.

You can make some (very little) platinum by buying rusty broadswords in EFP from the Resales vendor, sharpening them, turning them to ore, and then making them into metal sheets. The profit from this is about 5gp every four sheets, so while it's enough to fund your own banded armor, it's pretty cruddy as a money-maker.

What do you mean, a high-elf needle? Do you mean an embroidery needle?

Sort of. Its an embroidery needle combined in a forge with Faydark Essence, iirc. Or something like that.

All the needles require a foraged or fished component though, so it's hardly the same.

                        That goodness they fixed this.

Bugs me to no end to think that I busted my wrists to get to 222 smithing, so I can finally make stuff that helps my guild out, and upgrades my own gear, only to find out that people have been using a low level smithing exploit to generate insane plat, and buy even better gear :x

Gotta say I don't feel real sorry for anyone who was cut off from this EXPLOIT.

Actually Silvered weapons have been going on for about a year that i know of. Silvered Long swords were the best money by a PP or 2, scimitars and halbreds also up there. Alot of enchanters and such knew of it and kept a lip on it for awhile. Only in the last month or so did I notice a massive influx of people starting it.. Im guessing that it got posted somewhere. Im thankful now that i dont have to fight over the large bricks of HQ ore anymore
