Dark Ore

I was hunting in Nadox yesterday and came upon a couple of non stacking bricks of Dark Ore.

Unfortunately a seach of this site for the words "Dark" and "Ore" and "Dark Ore" didn't seem to help. So forgive me if this has been addressed before. However, anyone know what this is for and what can be made with it.

Dark Ore uses?

Here's what I've tried so far

Dark Ore + water = DNC
Dark Ore + water + file = DNC
Dark Ore + water + Smithy Hammer = DNC
Dark Ore + chisel = DNC
Dark Ore + water + Dark Ore = DNC

Any other ideas?

Next, I'll try the combines with different tempers and I'll let you know what I find

Aye, it sounds very much to me like you will need a specific temper.

Fiery Ore requires a Fiery temper
Acrylia Ore requires Acrylia Temper
Black Acrylia - - > Black Acrylia Temper

Well, you get the point. I imagine somewhere in the possible combinations out there is a "Dark Temper" that will be needed when working with Dark Ore. Watch for those funny little parchment drops with cryptic messages on them, or check vendors in the surrounding areas for books and such that may have recipes in them.

Like Celdil pointed out, I'd guess the temper would be along a similar theme. What do we have ingame that might possibly make a "dark temper"? Perhaps

I think there is also something called a
globe of darkness (+water)

Hmmm,
If there is a dark temper, I wouldn't think it would be as simple as a dark essence and water (but then i'm not renowned for fantastically accurate predictions ) What drops this ore ? that may give us a clue as to potential ingredients.

Dark Ore Drops

I looted 2 ores off the Trolls in Nadox. Unfortunately I don't remember specifically the name of which Trolls dropped it. However the ore in non-stackable and each weighs about 15 or 18 and since I was able to loot two of them, they of course are not lore and are also tradeable.

A side note, I have hunted there since then and have not been fortunate enough to find any more drops so I would hazard a guess that the drop rate may be uncommon.

I'll see what I can find by way of Dark Tempers, I would reason that if a temper is to be found it would be made of new items or recipes located in LOY rather than an existing one. Any ideas as to a new LOY Dark temper recipe?

Another thought is, now that swirling shadows are no longer no rent, is there a temper that could be made with these?

Then again I could be wrong, I'll attempt to locate and try different tempers and I'll report my findings

Dark Ore

I've tried alot of the different possibilities of combines as well and with no avail have returned here to check other notes. I've gone as far as multiple combines of ore with water, chisels, files and smithing hammers all with a DNC. I agree there must be some sort of new temper to be made and that is my next step as well. What I thought might be some components at first was drops of "a strange dark powder" also found in the mines. This however is no drop and I believe for one of the BST quest. I've also tried different combines of the no drop "pristine ore" mixed with dark ore with no luck. Will keep trying and experimenting. I have found the dark ore in large quantity and already have a mule about full.

To add to this... perhaps the temper is made from the "vial of blackened blood" that sometimes drops off the mobs in Nadox. This is the tradeable vial, not the NO DROP one used in the spell quests (a blackened vial). It has the skull-bottle icon in inventory.

Hunt the Troll Miners, Excavators and Tunnelers. They randomly drop the Dark Ore. I have about 6 so far after spending a hunting session in the actual "mines" area in Nadox.

Judging by the other temper ingredients, we're probably looking for three items to combine and make a temper.

There is an essence of darkness, used in black acrylia I think, so this might be a good starting point.

Also a thought, try different mana vials (clear, cloudy, etc) with whatever temper ingredients. I'm no developer, but essence of darkness, vial of blackened blood, and distilled mana has a nice ring to it =) I would try myself however I have not gotten any of those blackened blood thingies.

recipes ?

Can I just ask how many recipes have actually been discovered that are NOT in books or handed out by NPC's?
I know I have read that SoE said that there is always the possibility of it but really I do not know of any.
Are there any?

If memory serves, Small Wisdom Deity, Small Protection Deity and the other Small Resisting Deity were all discovered by a player. And Kudos to him/her for doing so!

Isn't acrylia temper made with akheva blood?

Perhaps there is a blood that goes with dark ore, too. I'm thinking vial of vampire blood, maybe.

I'd try whatever bloods you can find in the new LoY zones.

I've gotten Dark Ore drops off of miners in the Torigain mines. The pristine ore samples are for a quest with a gnome in Steamfont Mountains. I agree that the temper components are probably going to be from LoY rather than Luclin. Nadox and Hate's Fury are the two zones in LoY I haven't explored much, but otherwise, I haven't really seen any blood drops other than the normal racial bloods. However, LoY does seem to be all about the trolls, so perhaps their blood is used.
