  • I found a reference to a scaler

In the recipies section I found the recipie for a scaler along with the comment that it apparently was no good for anything. Well, I was wondering around (lost) in PoK somewhere in the either good or neutral areas when I found a book on a merchant brother (I forgot the name)'s secrets. Now, being a monk, I figured what the heck, is this a monk book and bought it. It was talking about this master fisher guy talking about fish. In that text it said that you could make a fishbone arowhead with some kind of fish and a scaler. Since I don't fish, I trashed the book. Now I have never played a Ranger and never done fletching, so I know that I am probably woefully out of date, but I have never heard of a fishbone arrowhead. Has anyone else found this text and tried it out yet?

I think you misread it... it's about how to make fishbone darts, which uses a filleting knife rather than a scaler.

Fresh Fish + Celandine Herb + (foraged) Roots + Filleting Knife in Tackle Box = Fish Bones + Prepared Fish + Filleting Knife.

Fish Bones + Fishbone Dart Tool in Fletching Kit = 5 Fish Bone Darts + Fishbone Dart Tool

The reason these are good for monks is that they are range 225 and weight 0.1, stackable.... probably why the book is written by a monk.

It also includes the recipe for Fish in Cream Sauce (Prepared Fish + Creamy Fennel Sauce, yield 2) for the prepared fish you get back...
