  • Hollowshade Woe

The XP from sonic wolves in TM has just about dried up so I decided to get Hollowshade re-popped so I could get the Owlbears in the SE camp. It got re-popped late Thursday night, but by the time I had to sleep the Owlbears had not attacked. Friday night the Sonics had all 3 camps, so I petitioned again, and the war was reset about 2 hours ago.

I got a friend to come along and help, and had just explained everything when the Sonic Wolves attacked the Owlbears, so I took her over there to show her what happens, and to kill the Sonics. We had just killed the last Sonic when I saw a single Grimling Invader run through the Owlbear defenders without getting aggro and then the announcement that the Grimlings were celebrating. The had been no announcements about the Grimlings attacking.

    Does this sound broken?

Broken to the point that MOST GM's won't even reset the zone anymore on some servers.

Yes, I know it's broken, but I've never heard of it being broken in that way before.

I got a GM to re-pop the zone 3 times in 4 days last week, and s/he seemed quite interested in what I saw happen with the lone Grimling taking over.

I get the feeling that it had either:

        A) popped at the wrong time, and the owlbears aggro specific species when the Defenders pop.

        B) Had spawned with an earlier attack and got stuck. I had noticed that Grimling Invaders get stuck behind rocks and trees. When the Sonics Wolves attacked, the Owlbear Defenders that specifically defend against Sonics then popped, allowing this Grimling to get in unhampered.

Every description I have read says that the defending side will always win if there is no outside interference, so this Grimling disproves this.

I finally got the whole Moor turned over to Owlbears last night, I can only hope that it stays that way until I get my fill of Wailing Substance.
