Tae smitting

Any chance id be able to make some of the CT armor or weapons at a skill of 192 +5%? Got 4 Tae ew bloods and 2 iksar atm.. Any advice on what to try?

Its all upto Luck at that skill. (They are trival > 250).

When I was around 195+geerlok I made 1 Tae Ew Shield from 4 attempts.

Late on at 205 skill+geelok I made 1 Tae Ew Shield from 2 attempts.

Shield are probably a good bet as you only need 1 Tae Ew blood, 1 Iksar blood (+ 3 other common bloods) + some vendor brought sheet metal and Kite shield mold.

Unless getting the bloods is exceptionally easy, hang on to them, you're just looking to burn them at that skill.

Any chance of explaining how you worked that out?

Do you mean 50% at max effective skill 252?

I agree it'd be good to save them until your skill is higher unless you are "feeling lucky".

Chance is higher than 50%. For the Blue Diamond armors it is true - they have been found to be having a success rate on average of 50%. The Tae Ew stuff however has higher success rate. Personally, at 228 effective skill, I'm 7/10 on Tae Ew Chain and 3/4 on the Tae Ew Shields.

From the FAQ:
Success* = Skill - 0.75*Trivial + 51.5 (rounded up, for Trivial>= 68)

192 * 1.05 = 201.6 (effective skill)

If Trivial is 251 then

success = 201.6 - .75*251 +51.5 = 64.85 %

If Trivial = 301 then

success = 201.6 - .75*301 +51.5 = 27.35 %

Since the trivial is over 250, it could be 251 or 301 (or even higher). We have no way of knowing.

current successes on Tae ew at 242: 13 for 15 chain pieces, 6 for 9 weapons. The trivial on them is not as high as BD cultural.

Success* = Skill - 0.75*Trivial + 51.5
85 = 252 - 0.75*triv + 51.5
33.5 = 252 - 0.75*triv
0.75*triv = 218.5
triv = 291.

So with effective skill of 201

Success = 201 - 0.75*291 + 51.5
Success = 34%

so about 1 in 3

Well I hit 214 skill this weekend and tried my luck at some Tae Ew items.

0/2 on Tae Ew Chain Tunics
2/5 on Tae Ew Shields

Time to head back to CT for more blood.
After giving the shields to guildies they are all much more inclined to go with me to farm blood

I began making Tae Ew stuff at 222 skill, and am currently at 248. My success rates so far are as follows:

Tunics: 35/51
Shields: 29/41
Legs: 5/10
Weapons: 2/7

Other than seeming to be very streaky, I have noticed no real change in success rates as my skill has gone up
