New LoY route to 132

Maybe this was mentioned in a thread, but I thought people should know I tried this, and it works great.

First off, to get to 122, do Embroidering needles. I actually did this before, since it was easier than ornate chain. Only problem in the old days, the needle were worthless.

But now, keep your needles. They cost you under 2pp if you bought Scent of Marr from a vendor. Cheaper if you farm your words and runes.

Then, either go to bazaar and buy cinnamon sticks, or to GFey and forage/kill Pixies for them. Surefall Sap also works, but is harder to get.

Brew your cinnamon sticks (you are already a master brewer anyway, right), put results in forge with a needle, and voila, a Fier'dal needle. The best part, a vendor will buy this for about 9.5 pp each. If you get your cinnamon for 3pp each, you just made 4.5pp per needle. And your skill advances to 132.

Stop for a minute to enjoy your new level and money. Then go burn that money doing the rest of ornate chain.

Or if you aren't forage capable, work up fishing in Ak'anon to get clockwork koi, then work on brewing to make clockwork essence, and make the gnome needle. Don't know about sellback price for it.

The numbers I listed assumed you just went to the bazaar to buy cinnamon sticks. So someone one who can neither fish nor forage will make money. If you can do either of these, you can just make a little more.

Are these needles done in a cultural forge or can anyone make any cultural needle in any forge?

Needles can be made in any forge. My halfling does not have his own cultural needles, so I make the elf ones.

yes, this is a GREAT route to 132..it's easier to fish to do the gnome essence btw and the cultural needles sell back at a good profit -- compared to most other trade skill stuff -- wow. i just wish i had seen this eariler before i made all that banded! thanks for the info

I just started playing around with this with my dwarf smith. Can any race make another race's needles? I have attempted combining the embroidering needles in a normal forge with either fetid essence (which I used to get to 122 in brewing) , shar vahl essence or faydark essence and I get the "you cannot combine these items in this contained".

I haven't seen anything in patch messages regarding a change on this.

i didn't have any problem doing gnome needles in normal forge using clockwork essence and i am human druid

I have tried using my dwarf with the various zone essences + embroidery needle, but I get a DNC. Tried it with my wood elf using the faydark essence and needle and it combined. Of course I got failures, but at least I know that it does work.

I am assuming that only some of the essences will combine with the needles. So far I have seen the gnomish and wood elf needles, has anybody confirmed any others?

Unless you happen to be KOS in Kelethin, that is.

Also, many people here sell cinnamon sticks for very close to what they sell back from vendors.
