• Fashion question re:Qeynos cultural vs. FS

I have a little human warrior I'm trying to outfit, and I have a fashion question. He follows Rallos Zek, so (once I get the money - and it'll take a long time) he'll eventually be that nice blood red color. In the meantime, however, I'll be equipping him in Fine Steel armor and (as I collect the cash...) in the Qeynos human plate, either gold (gold colored) or platinum (light purple). Since I'll be going piece by piece, I'm going to have a mish-mash of cultural and FS armor.

What color should I dye his FS armor? Keep in mind that I don't want to use the new dye feature, just the old FS dyes.

I'd love to see what suggestions everyone comes up with -)

I suspect you'll have to pick more than a few smiths up off the floor after they read your suggestion to burn essence of sunlight for old style cultural. I believe the freeport cultural is a nice red color, and has passable stats.

Though if you insist on gold and purple, I'd go with the tasteful 2 resin yellow plate or the tasteless 1 resin green. Your call.

heheh I understand why people would have a problem with that, but I'm farming all my own and helping out a smith, all while getting some decent armor for a toon I will enjoy playing. It may not be the Uberest shtuff, but it's stuff that I can obtain and have fun with while enjoying the game. I'm a firm believer that not everything has to be THE best. Pretty good works too, ya know... ;-)

Plus, I love being able to wear tradeskilled shtuff. It gives me a good feeling. So... yes, I will be "burning" Essence of Sunlight on these "inferior" products.

and I plan to enjoy it. -D

I think their point is, why make qeynos full plate, when the Rallos Zek imbued field plate has almost as much AC, and has stats that are very nicely suited to a melee. Look up the RZ field plate, before you go making the enchanted full plate.

This way you can save those royal tempers for the Fierce heraldic )

Oh, I almost forgot, also take a look at acrylia plate. I twinked my human warrior out in a full visible of the Acrylia plate, which looks good with undyed FS, or dyed about any color you like, since gray goes with anything. Also matches up well with fierce heraldic, for when you finally get to the good stuff )

Xaanru, I'll double-check the stats before making a final decision. Since I'll be doing all the ingredient farming, I'd have to say a big fat no to Acrylia.

Still want fashion advice, though ;-)

Unless you don't have luclin, farming windstones for acrylia plate (or checking every vendor in Katta nightly with an alt) is a heck of a lot easier than farming essence of sunlight.

Also, by the time you feel a real need to replace the fine steel armor, the Zek armor has decent stats (at level 20 I realized the cultural armors had better stats than Acrylia...thats 25 levels before I reach the recomended!).

If nothing else, spare us and please, please, please use the old cultural recipees for freeport smithing (ingredients way easier to get from what I've herd.).

Oh, and I kina like the dark blue dye, but considering you've got pale purple and gold...maybe the light pale blue (3 resin). Ugh! Don't!
Tailoring, why did I ever start tailoring? *sob*

I may have missed your reasoning, but if you're "fashion-conscious", why not just use body tinting with the new LoY dyes? It's relatively low-cost - 40-50pp/slot, and permanent. Get that nice blood-red color now - you don't have to wait for Heraldic.

My warrior is running around in the old cleric gold with baby blue boots (full Heraldic) - she's a hotty!

Are you opposed to farming for plat, and buying supplies in the bazaar? Or is the smith you're working with below skill 230/240?

If the answer to both those is "no," I'd really recommend farming for plat, buying the velium, blue diamonds, and other supplies you need to just have your smith make Fierce Heraldic. Or go with Acrylia, and use LoY dyes, if you have them. The old style dyes kinda sucked.

If you're set with going with old style, I liked the 2 resin yellow, and pretty much all the blues. I found the blacks disappointing, having them turn out mostly grey, and the reds I made were mostly pink. The 2 and 3 resin (I'm doing this from memory, so I might be wrong on the 3, it was the dark green) were pretty nice, but very very dark.

My model was mostly a half elf. The plate detailing had some nice scrollwork. If you're on E'Ci, send me a tell, as I've got lots of dyes still on my trading mule.

If it'll help, there are a lot of pictures of Luclin models with dyed fine plate at eqfashion.com

I did a full-set comparison of the Rallos Zek-imbued field plate (Freeport) and the enchanted platinum full plate (Qeynos)

Rallos Zek field plate 146 AC, STR 54, STA 24
enchanted platinum full plate 165 AC, STR 30, INT 39

Though the enchanted platinum full plate has more AC, the Freeport field plate has better stats for a warrior.
but then I compared the Rallos Zek field plate with the Enchanted Silver full plate

Rallos Zek field plate 146 AC, STR 54, STA 24
enchanted silver full plate 165 AC, STA 46, AGI 37

The enchanted silver full plate has more AC, much more STA (meaning more HP!), and the additional AGI increases the effective AC. There is no STR, but let's face it... STR is easy to get compared to STA. I think that the enchanted silver full plate will be my choice until I can move up to Fierce Heraldic.

So... if Enchanted Silver full plate is a dark yellow/green very similar to Shaman Totemic armor, what colors should I dye the FS armor?

If you have LoY, you really should just tint your armor. Its very easy and cheap, and you don't have to sacrafice any stats.

Don't want to tint my armor. Especially since the armor I'm wearing is just Fine Steel. It'd be cheaper to dye it using the old dyes.

GAH! Not a flame, but Cubwynn did state in his first post that he didn't want to use LoY armor tinting. I soooo don't understand the continual suggestion to use it.

Heartsong suggested eqfashion.com. Have you had a chance to check that site out yet Cubwynn?

Oh, I know what every FS dye color looks like, no worries there... I was just asking for opinions on what would go well with the cultural armor, ie., which combinations would look alright.
