They do drop in 4c, they are very rare as far as I can tell. We had many drop before we knw what they were for and sold to vendor, along with about 15 cazicite. Needless to say we camped 4c alot. Anyways, keep killing brown lizards and you will get you pristine scales.
Is 4c the same as "silver" or "mud temple" area? I haven't been to CT in quite some time (since my original shaman was lvl 27).
I've found lots of blood camping the entrance, but it's off green lizards (color, not con).
I went back to the mud temple area and found amber colored lizards... basically, from the entrance, go directly across the courtyard, in the door on the far wall, and then go through the right door inside there, and follow the corridor. Follow corridor around until it exits out into another open courtyard - now containing 4 raptors, then straight on back through another passage and door and out into the mud temple area with the amber lizards "Thul Tae Ew <name>", etc.
If you remember from the old days Karsan you will remember that the "mud temple" or "temple" was the one straight across from the entrance and the "pyramid" was the one through the maze. Nowdays people seem to be using "4c" or "4 corners" to refer to the what we used to call just the "pyramid". Personally I like the old way. Was much less confusing. I had to ask around to figure out what the hell 4c/4 corners was. I thought is was someplace in the maze for a while.

"4c" or "4 corners" was throwing me for a loop also. I did a lot of searching on various websites/message boards and can confirm that the "Temple", "Archon Pyramid" and "4c" are one and the same. Go through the maze and you will find "4c".
My guild's raided 4C 4 times now, still no pristine scales or swampwood staffs, but have been picking up cazicite and hides every once in a while. How long did it take the typical tae ew plate smith to finally craft a BP? If it's going to be one out of 5 visits to get 1 PS out of the 6 needed, I think I'll just go for PoP tier II smithing instead.
There were about 20 of us and we worked our way around from corner to corner for about 90 minutes. We probably killed 10 brown Tae and many more Green ones. We ended up with:
1 Pristine Scale
1 Chunk of Cazicite

I'm in the same boat as you. I am up to 3 scales out of 6 needed for an attempt at greaves. I did get a bunch of staves though - and made a single 12/20 hammer. I'd rather use the oh-so-rare iksar blood on shields. On the other hand, during that time we have gotten 2 barbed rubicite coifs, 3-4 fleshgrinders and numerous other loot from 4C. So it wasn't a totla loss
As for PoP plate. I've made plenty of Tier1 plate and a single piece of hurricane plate - which is tier3 by the way, as the drop of pure rain is a BoT item. Unless I'm mistaken, there is no Tier2 plate armor. everything else is Tier4. It took me a long time to collect the 6 drops of pure rain to attempt hurricane legs. 6, assuming no trivial failures along the way.
