  • The Truth about int/wis/str

Had a few question which im not sure if we know yet but here goes. My int is currently 355 but im a int caster so my str/wis not so good but decent. My question is in trade skills does any thing past 255 count or is the extra 100 int just gravey? and does it take your skill ups/sucess off your highest score or is that something i pulled out of a fairy tale?

    Thanks,

    - Skill up rate depends on the highest of INT or WIS (with a skill like Smithing having STR as a third option)
    - Success rate purely depends on your (modified) skill

I'm not sure if points above 255 give any bonus. My feeling would say it doesn't.

      Skill ups

I always see folks commenting on what stats effect skill ups etc. One thing that I tested was Wisdom vs Strength for smithing skill ups and skill ups in general. I read some of the info of Wisdom and intelligence from EQCR

Wisdom: Wisdom affects the amount of mana the priest classes have, also rangers and paladins. It also affects how quickly you can learn many skills if your wisdom is higher than your Intelligence

Intelligence: Intelligence directly affects how quickly you can learn most skills

So my one warrior was geared up with wisdom and the other with STR.
The Wisdom based Warrior got skill ups like crazy 0-184 smithing for less than 4kpp and skills were all leveling up even though he was being PL'ed by my 65 druid. Then i took the STR warrior (BTW dumber than a box of hammers) and cost me over 14kpp to get the same smithing skill and his fighting skills were extremely slow and did not even get up to that of a level 5 player. BTW both warriors were leveled to 23. I'm thinking there may be some validity to Wis and INT for skill ups. regardless of class, skill, or level.

Garshok's skill-ups, with strength 255 and int around 110, went faster than Zopharr's with 255 Wisdom and 210-232 strength. Garshok took about 29.5 combines per skill point in fine plate, Zopharr averaged about 34.

Not arguing strength is better, just that there is an awful lot of randomness in how fast each specific calculator goes. I tend to think that they are all equally important, and that highest of the three trumps all.

        Zopharr
95th Priest of Brell, Povar-Quellious, 300 Dwarven Grand Master Smith, 300 all skills
(holds his 15% smithing trophy in his off hand and pretends to dual-wield - and hopes the Holy Dirt of Brell he's carried for twelve years will have a use in the new expansion)

I did very well yesterday with skilling up with 201 str, int around oh, 60 or so and wisdom around 70. Granted, I just finished banded, but still...

i work with 255 str, 80 wis, about 90 int. I get 1 skillup in about 18 shadowscream tries overall.

For general use, for warriors dex also helps combat skills increase in case you're outwitted by a box of rocks. I dont recall where i read that but it seems to work for my monk who isnt particularly bright.

Skil ups for combat I can answer... not for Trade skills since i am still to new to it...

Combat STR in combat is almost usless.... for every 50 points of STR you get 1 point of DMG....

Combat Dex is Off skills only for skil ups....

Combat AGL is Deff. skills only for skill ups....

I have found this to be true with caters and melee alike....!

I asked this same question when I was at the last Fan Faire in a Tradskills session. The answer directly from the developers was that the Wis/Int/etc. does effect the success rate as you higher beyond 255. So I have my wisdom currently at 285 and I do see better skill up than when I was at 255, albeit a small amount but enough to be noticed. So my suggestion is to get your stats up as much as you can.
