  • Tae Ew Smithed Weapons

Was looking at the stats on magelo and the ones that have been posted here is it true that Tae Ew weapons dont have damage bonus or is this just unposted...if they have a damage bonus I think it would be way worth it to craft some if not im thinking i would rather not waste my time.

Damage bonus is applied on all weapons, it is based on your level and is NOT actually part of the weapon's stats. It is simply listed in the stats probably because Sony couldn't think of anywhere better to place it. I forget what level you start getting a damage bonus, however the formula is based off the players current level and I believe the damage of the weapon so the damage bonus will be different to you than it would be to a level 65.

Damage bonus only applies to certain classes (ie melees) so only those classes will see the damage bonus on an item if they are of appropriate class and lvl. You get a damage bonus starting at lvl 28 and the bonus increases by 1 approx every 3 lvls (damage bonus is 11 at lvl 60).

note: 2h weapons have a greater damage bonus then 1h and higher bonus is given for weapons with delay greater then 40.

          Tae Ew DPS

A lvl59 paladin friend of mine did a parsed DPS test with the Tae Ew 2hs and the 2-tined corpse pitchfork. Same skill level in both weapon types.

He said the Tae Ew 2hs edged out the 2-tine piercer, which has a greater than 1.0 ratio.

He uses the Tae Ew 2hs and seems satisfied with it.

            Paladins

The equation changes for those 26/22 2hp etc weapons when you are a Paladin proccing Nife (240DD) against Undead for a 22delay. Otherwise you may well be right about the 34/35 out damaging it.

I thought the damage bonus increased on 2 handers with a delay of 35 and greater not 40...... I would feel better if someone confirmed it, but that explaines why the Tae Ew 2 hander out damages the pitchfork. Unless you are procing a decent damage spell the 35 delay and up 2 anders will always outdamage a similar ratioed weapon with under 35 delay. If you are procing a decent DD as shown in an example above the more you hit the more chances of a proc and the more damage you do when you add in the proc so in instances such as those it would be better to use the lower delay.

Anywho I digress, can I get a 2nd party to confirm it is increased bonus at 35 and above, or a 2nd party to confirm it is 40 and up.

Clearing up a couple bits of misinformation.

Damage bonus for all 1H weapons will be the same for any given character. I believe that bonus is 11 for me at level 60. Damage for 2H weapons is increased starting with weapons of delay 28 and greater.

The pitchfork with a delay of 22 only gets an 11 damage bonus for a level 60 user, whereas a weapon with a delay of 28 or higher would get a substantially higher bonus. This allows many weapons with a relatively poorer ratio to outperform the pitchfork.

Not true! Careful study has shown that procs are scaled to the delay of the weapon and to your level of haste. So a character using Instrument of Nife and wielding Tantor's Tusk (50/60) should get the same number of procs per minute as one using the Two-Tined Pitchfork discussed above. The number of procs per minute (taken over a large amount of time) will be the same, even if one character is completely unhasted and the other is at the haste cap. There is a thread on this at the Shaman's Crucible and another on the Paladins of Norrath board if folks want to read more about it.

P.S. Here is a good reference to use when calculating damage bonuses for weapons.I believe this was taken from a thread at Monkly Business a couple years ago.Note: The second column (2 Hand Bonus) represent the 27/4 part of the formulas found at the bottom.

                DamageBonus = (Level - 25) / 3
                * Damage Bonuses are always rounded down (ie, 7.65 = 7)
(Level) = One Hand | 2 Hand Bonus | Total
                (1-27) = 0 | 0 | 0
                (28 )= 1 | 0 | 1
                (29) = 1 | 0 | 1
                (30) = 1 | 0 | 1
                (31) = 2 | 1 | 3
                (32) = 2 | 1 | 3
                (33) = 2 | 1 | 3
                (34) = 3 | 1 | 4
                (35) = 3 | 2 | 5
                (36) = 3 | 2 | 5
                (37) = 4 | 2 | 6
                (38 ) = 4 | 2 | 6
                (39) = 4 | 3 | 7
                (40) = 5 | 3 | 8
                (41) = 5 | 3 | 8
