  • Essence of Wind

Yes, I'm going the silly acrylia route. Slowly. Very slowly.

I can find windstones for sale but essence of wind is pretty rare. I have a necro perma clearing the elemental island and the drops suck. In my reading did I miss that they drop somewhere else?

They drop in TM off of the crag ligi, I believe. I have collected a few while farming there. They drop some acrylia sometimes, also.

Meeda hune and crag ligi drop them fairly often. Few hours of killing yields me 4-5 at least. I have a sick number of essence of wind, windstones however are different story. The aliens used to drop them also, but have not seen any sincei came back. Used to be windstone-wind essence drop ratio of 1-4, but is like 0-30 since i unretired.

I have been farming TM the last couple days (the mines). Results: 12 Windstones, 2 Essence of Wind. The week before, I was farming cral ligi soldiers (and warlords) in TM. Results: 4 Windstones, 12 Essence of Wind. I hope this gives you some ideas.

On my server I can buy windstones but very rarely essence of wind. I tried the crag lis but the air elementals still drop better. It's not great but one day I got 20 because a shadow knight was camping lava rocks and traded them with me for essence.

Exact opposite situation here on Xegony.

Tons of Essence of Wind in the Bazaar, relatively few Windstones.

Really need that See Invisible to catch those Air Elementals...
Or just kill enough so that you're so KoS they attack you automatically.

My necro is kos but she also has a hotkey /pet attack an air elemental so that when one pops the pet sends a message. I keep the island clean so it's not that. Oh well, back to the salt mines.

Wow, on Rodcet nife, I can easily buy several stacks of essence of wind, in under a week, for an average of 20-30p per essence.

Windstones are non-existent in the bazaar any more. For the past several days, there has been ONE, and the guy was asking 5kpp. I used to buy windstones for 50-100pp each. Now I'm lucky to find ANY under 150pp each. Thank Marr that I am now making sickles, so its a moot point.

                    Mines question

What were you killing in the mines for the windstones?

Everything! Clearing the mine farthest from Katta/closest to Grimling Forest zone, results in an average 1 windstone per clearing (and a huge pile of assorted Etched Acrylia Runes).

Best drop rate for essence of wind is definatly the elementals in TS. Clear the island, only way to keep the air elementals spawning at a good pace. You might as well collect all the trade skill usable stuff and offer to trade for what ya need. Also, hit up the vendor in the castle, usualy has a few essence of wind on him (as well as lava rocks, occasional iron oxide, and rare rare rare windstone.), and the vendors in Katta.

Okay, ressurecting an old thread here, but.... do green elementals aggro if you're KOS?

Yes, even at level 60. (the goofballs)

ABSOLUTELY correct. Essence of wind best drop rate is off the elementals. You have to clear ALL the elementals if you only kill the air elementals, then the earth, water, and fire spawn in their place. Soon you will have nothing but those and no air elementals, or maybe 1 or 2 and that is it

Try hitting the little dudes in the caves along the south wall of TM. I have had great luck with stones dropping there, just getting the essence of wind is tough for me for some reason. I have not gone farming the elementals though.
