  • Freeport Culture

I'm looking into doing Freeport Culture armor as an alternative to Shadowscream when i finish up the 200 combines I've got currently farmed. Just have two questions:

    1. Approximately what is the sell back rate like to vendors? About how much do you loose per success?

    2. How is doing FP culture compare to doing SS as far as ease/skill up rates etc.

    3. (ok I lied, 3 questions) I'm KOS at the moment in West Freeport. If I can get to the forge safely, would I be able to use it without conflict?

Thanks in advance for any input

1: From my logs, I see myself being offered 31.714pp for imbued field plate collar one sheet), and 69.201pp for imbued field plate girdle (2 sheets). Sorry, that's all the data I have.

2: /shrug, SS farming is mass slaughter of greenies, seafurries will be blue to you and I suspect you will need a healer, so harder but you get exp. Seaweed is droppable now so you can have a guild fishing day or somesuch

Skillup rates: Since regular field plate has trivials from 190-215, and imbued from 215-242, you will always be relatively close to the trivial of the piece you are attempting, which some folks believe gives you more of a chance at a skill-up. Personally I am agnostic on this issue.

3: Depends who you are KOS to. If, as Paladins should be, you are KOS to the Militia, and you can get past them safely, you will find the Freeport Forge in the safety of the Steel Warriors. The Steel Warriors are also no friends of the Militia.

I do Bracers which trivial at 222 skill. Each attempt costs me roughly 60pp to do, on sell-back the vendor offers about 40pp. The Imbued Field Plate market is as good as dead on my server, can hardly sell the stuff at cost anymore, so vendor selling is the only viable option, especially since you'll be mass-producing the stuff.

No idea since I never did SS (Clerics aren't really a farming class), but I'd say that skill-up rates are combine-independent. Only the respective Tradeskill matters. I usually buy my Sea Foams, there are usually plenty for sale in the Bazaar. Also I sometimes drop by merchants in "easy" locations and check them out. Sometimes I manage to salvage a few Mugs from them. Farming Pelts in Stonebrunt and Silks in Feerrott is easy. The only thing that's boring is the fishing for the Sea Weed. Wish you could set a "goal" to fish for at high fishing skills, yielding you higher chance to fish what you're looking for.

The Freeport Forge is located in the yard of the Steel Warriors building, the Warriors guild of Freeport. If you are not KoS to them, you should be ok. You'll only need an invis to get there then. But Freeport Militia guards are nowhere near that Forge, so you should be safe.

you have to go to the next zone to get the molds - anyhow, if you farm everything else you'll lose about 25-30pp per combine. If you don't farm, and buy some bits (I had much success buying sea foam at 5pp when I was sitting in OOT fishing for seaweed) plus cost of imbued gem (try to find errolsi cleric, cheapest) and then padding. If you can afford to sink the money to it, this is definatley the fastest skillup progression of any race post 188 - the tempers are easy to get, don't need ore enchanted, and getting gems imbued isn't that hard.

All data from E'Ci server. My smith is a monk, has 136 cha (GM trophy), and good faction in Qeynos/Freeport/Bazaar.

Blocks of HQ ore cost me 51pp plus some change in either Qeynos or the Bazaar, and success rate on sheets is over 90%. I can find unrefined ore on sale on vendors for less than 10pp per large brick, and the replenishing quest got me 44pp last time I did it.

I farm pelts/hides for padding (mostly rockhopper hides, from getting flawless and superb in DSP), as well as the silks (Shadeweavers Thicket, which also nets me some swirling shadows to do a minor SS run).

Jade (for imbuing once you get past regular Field Plate) costs me less than 2pp per, and I have access to a 29 ogre shaman for the imbuing.

Large bricks of ore are about 2pp per brick, so chain jointing is about 1pp per.

That gives me roughly a per combine cost of 55/107/159 plus mold, and water, which is less than 20pp.

Sell back prices for me are: Bracers 23pp (not at 135 cha.) Inmbued Vambraces 76, imbued greaves about 117, and imbued breastplate 123.
