Server wide drops skill ups on "templates" vs real armor

Do the actual cultural combines to make real armor like orante, elaborate, stalwart etc.. have a better chance at skill ups than say a combine on other recipes that are used to skill up ? Trying to justify the extra cost of skilling up on REAL armor combines with no sell back value compared to the templates with a great sell back value.

Yes

The Breast plate and leg slots for the armor and symbols for intricate and elaborate have large skill ups for the final combine. The symbols use less materials, but require additional quests to complete. They I think about 3 and 5 times as likely to skill up. Being little market for them they will not sell or vendor for much and jsut tribute for a little, but the components are not expensive either. You can likely skill up much faster for the last 3 points or so if you concentrate on those 4 combines.

Symbols are the best way to skill up for the least amount of materials/cost. Specifically sacred symbols were best for me. I used them ot max tailoringo n three toons and two trophies, and max smithing on three toons with one max trophy. The trick is not to use the chest symbols until you're leveling the trophy, and the Sacred Symbol quest is so easy to do at 85 that for me it is always the best path to tailoring/smithing post 272 skill.

If I remember correctly, the elaborate armor and emminent augs had a +10% to kill-up (so, say, a 2% chance to skill up would become 12%). This is for all pieces, not just BP/legs - so best to do wrists or other items that require only one ore or two ores as long as possible before swapping to the BPs/Legs requiring three ores.

The next tier down, Intricate/Sacred had a +5% chance.

Elegant/sublime, of course, has no extra chance to skilll up since you need to be 300 already to get the books. Same with Stalwart., but the tanalum/vanadium templates can be used to skill up.

Given the low demand for intricate or elaborate, can often find the loams cheap - ore becomes the limiting factor.

I believe at one point Ngreth mentioned that the Elegant/Sublime and the Stalwart/Venerable also have the skill up bonus. However since they require 300 to attempt it cannot be proven but should the skill up equation be fixed and the skill caps raised, they would be the way to go.

That is not correct at all, the bonus is not limited to chest and legs.

The bonus is not limited, but the trivial on the other slots is lower and that may be the reason they were omitted in that statement.
