  • Cultural success rate... 1 on 6 tries!

240 + trophy, failed BP twice, then succeeded, then again failed legs and visor...

I know it's short data... but this failure rate makes me nervous, especially when I'm doing the combine for others, and I have to convince myself it's only the RNG not being nice to me!

of course it has nothing to do with not being "pure" GM, of course cultural doesnt fail to check the trophy +5% bonus, of course I'm not paranoid!

    or am I?

It's all about the RNG. Typically when I find myself failing quite a few of the trivial combines, I put off doing the rest of the combines until the next day. It's been my experience that lots of trivial fails = lots of fails when it comes to the actual cultural combines. I've had extremely bad streaks where I've failed a ton of combines in a row for others, and other streaks where I've been successful for quite a few times in a row. Just keep your chin up

Oh, and if you're curious, I did a small smithing run the other day with some typical results:

    BFM Collar - 1/1
    BFM Greaves - 0/1
    BFM Cloak - 1/1
    BFM Gauntlets - 0/1
    BFM Vambraces - 1/1
    BFM Bracers - 2/5

This was at 241 raw skill, so effectively maxed with a geerlok. As you can see, 5/10 which is more or less what you can normally expect.

The RNG isn't so random, rather it's a pattern of sucess/failures that is constantly repeated. I have noticed with the RNG for these combines a 5 failure run. It's happened to me 4 times now. Just grin and bare it or camp and come back at let someone else suffer it.

I grin and bare it as you never know when your going to hit the 4 sucesses in a row.

I've had 1 in 6 before, it happens. Yesterday I was 2 for 2, it happens.

            Mimosa,

I've had two runs with 7 failures before a success, and one with eight failures - it happens.

The 250+ armor requiring Blue Diamonds? 3 out of 11 with a raw skill of 207 (217 with Geerlok). I've since increased skill but not attempted these armors again yet ... about to, though.

                  On BD armour, I was:
                  1/1 bracer
                  1/1 boots
                  0/5 vambraces
                  0/1 bracer

With 214 raw skill plus geerlok

Saving up velium for more attempts, probably at 220 skill (if I have the patience to wait that long! )

                    at 202 skill

                    1/5 masks
                    0/15 bracer
                    3/5 bps

after the mask i decided to try a bracer failed 15 i was running out of supplies and was annoyed so figured if i was gonna fil may as well fail with style and hit the 3 bps.

I have been having terrible luck lately as well.

                      250 + Trophy

                      In the past 2 days...

                      1 for 7 on masks
                      1 for 3 BP
                      0 for 6 greeves

after the mask i decided to try a bracer failed 15 i was running out of supplies and was annoyed so figured if i was gonna fil may as well fail with style and hit the 3 bps.
Heh I did the same thing at 195 or so. Had 3 sheets left and decided instead of failing 3 more bracers I was going to fail a BP. Seeing that BP on my cursor had to be one of the happiest moments of my EQ career

I have gone 0 for 9, then 7 for 8 in the same day. Its random, and it sucks.

Don't worry - you'll have good days and bad days.
At 250, I failed eight boots in a row.
A few weeks later I succeeded on 13 pieces in a row, including 3 BPs.

I have been on bad runs for a long time now. I make Mistletoe Sickles 10 at a time and am lucky to succeed on 2 or 3 out of 10. On cultural I get the same or worse on runs. Several smiths on Fennin Ro are also having very bad runs. Some of us have speculated that there may be some kind of code in the game that after you make so many of a given item your chances at success are seriously decreased. Also some have suggested that they got better success rates pre 250 skill.

Not sure what it means but when you add in all the failures on trivial combines (BD powder, Temper, infused combines) it is very frustrating when you go 0 for 10 on an item when your at 250 skill. Success rates like that are what you would expect from a smith at 200 skill.
