  • Black acrylia weapons question

I had awhat I consider a pretty decent run last night. Had enough black acrylia tempers for 5 attempts at weapons.

went 1/1 on rapier and longsword. 0/3 on halberd. (209 skill, atm)

Now, my question isn't on the smithing of them, so much as the performance. I have a warrior, soon to be level 45, who currently uses a lammy/veno axe combo. I've been considering equipping him with the rapier in primary, and the longsword secondary.

Has anyone had experience with a warrior equipped this way?

The ratios are better, once you factor in the magic damage. Plus they both have a proc, but they are a little slower. What I want to know is Will I generate as much taunt, with this setup? How often do the BA weapons proc? Will my damage per second go up, stay the same, or go down?

Any answers you might have would be greatly appreciated.

I would definatlely give it a try. I used the rapier/battle axe combo on my bard for awhile. With decent dex you can get a lot of procs per fight and lifetap away. Healing yourself for 100's of hp during battles is a good thing.

The rapier is a fantastic taunt weapon. My paladin routinely outtaunts warriors dual wielding weapons which are just as fast with it. The magic damage seems to factor into being extra taunt (as does the LT of course), in my experience. The Halberd taunts exceptionally well for a 2H as well, although its raw damage output is probably the major factor there.

The Black Acrylia Rapier in the primary, and a Black Acrylia Morningstar in the offhand is about the best taunt setup a non-uber warrior can get their hands on. The BA Scimitar is also a good offhander, if your 1HB skill is bad. The longsword is a (very slightly) better DPS weapon, but I would wager that if taunt is what you want, the speed of the morningstar will give even more of an edge.
