  • Ngreth, you cant be serious with these new studs

This has to be a cruel joke or a mistake.

Cobalt Studs (Smithing, 352 trivial) Yield: 1 x Cobalt Studs
    In: Forge, Tanaan Forge
    Cobalt Ore (1)
    Dropped
    Smithy Hammer (1)
I busted my ass and spent millions of platinum on tradeskills, much of it on smithing and tailoring, and you guys are adding a 325 trivial stud that takes a absurdely common ore drop and one lousy hammer returned on success/fail !!??

I am all for making things easier. For pete's sake, this is just short of coding in a "I-WIN" button into tradeskills.

    Please rethink this.

May I point out that what we're seeing is a first pass at recipes that are not supposed to be live, are still very much under development, and may or may not see the light of day in finished form later on?

There's a patch tentatively scheduled for the 10th which will likely disable these.

      it is a mistake

It is a bug I would have caught in beta if the silly stuff had not gone in early

How many reminders do people need until they figure out that you are not supposed to direct comments / issues / flames at anyone that works for Sony that happen to come here, let alone by name AND in the subject line.

If you have an issue with Sony take it to their boards.

As for the issue at hand it was posted multiple times last week that the data went live when it was not supposed to, and it is very unlikely that a skill up recipe off an item that can be traded will go into the game without a cost. Calm down, breathe and wait for the the real stuff to get in game.

        And re-read The Rules:

        http://mboards.eqtraders.com/eq/showthread.php?t=24592

        in particular, number 5.

We are a community, people that desire to be part of a community participate with and obey community restrictions.

Thankfully our Ogre has thick skin. /bravo to Ngreth and his ability to keep his cool far better than I can.

As an aside it eats the hammer on a fail. Did on mine in the guild hall forge anyway.

Except this went live, and is still live, and people are exploiting the bug like crazy to max out skill at teh lousy cost of 12pp a click for a hammer.

SOE takes the servers down if a lvl 4 gets more then 1pp an hour, why are they letting this exploitable bug stay long enough for dozens if not hundreds of people get a I-WIN button to 300 smithing?

Any way you guys spin this its bad for the game that this was not emergency patched.

I might be confused, but it seems that the rare drop in this recipe is the same in the current cobalt recipes, to make a cobalt bracer pattern all you need is cobalt ore and vendor bought components, heck even Tungsten ore which is easier to get will get you to 300+ with just vendor components. It seems like the bottleneck is the same either way.

                Cobalt Chain Bracer Template =

                Chainmail Bracer Template Pattern
                Cobalt Ore
                Metal Tempering Chemicals
                Smithy Hammer
                Toluene Coal

When you are talking hundreds to thousands of combines to trip to 300, then evolve a trophy the 66pp cost difference per combine is quite sizable and hence the concern.

                Hope that helps.

Except that the cobalt bracer template sells for almost 60pp while the studs aren't worth anything to a merchant.

True. But not as relevant as that would appear.

Best case, you are out 5pp plus the cobalt. Worst case you're out 66pp and the cobalt.

As compared to: Best case you are out the cobalt. Worst case you're out 11pp (you loose the hammer) and the cobalt.

A huge difference on the fail side of the equation. Cheap failures = fast skill raising.

Good point. Skilling up on studs you'd rather not equip skill mod items just so that you'll have a higher chance of salvage gaining you another skillup attempt.

Trivials are adjusted in the patch today. It was too late to "restrict" them (different file) and I did not think it was necessary to restrict them.

                        But yeah.

                        Still under development.

Studs use a hammer? Regular studs just need ore and a file .

as a poor tradeskill who spends his plat on TS items instead of things like gate pots ect. I saw the first recipie for Rhem studs, and thought wow now more buying expencive coal. I did a few combines and lost my hammer. oh well buy anouther hammer and RL took me away for about an hour, and when I got back, I looked this up on EQ traders, and found that it IS fishy as it seemd. Easy button active on one of the harder tradeskills. Glad its beeing fixed, and asside from that 2 or 3 combines I wont be doing the early recipies. Ill get to 300 the old fashion way.... farm until my eyes bleed, then farm blind lol.

I think it stops at about 272 now (I don't even remember... I tend to fix things then move on to the next thing and forget the details...)... still will get you a ways up there, but not all the way to 300.

As for file vs hammer. Meh. I may swap it in beta. I will think about it.

as it was... I had a column shift... I was trying to return 10489 of item -1 (which does not exist thankfully!)
