  • A preponderance of Golems

    I am looking for a "good" zone in the 55-65 range to farm for Indium Ore and I figure I'll have my best luck hunting Golems. Thus I have a few questions:

    1) Am I correct is presuming that Golems drop more ore than say Humanoids?

    2) Where might I find a preponderance of golems in the 55-65 range?

    3) A third and somewhat related question is: Is there another, "better", avenue for my Half Elf bard to go down towards GM smithing? Perhaps I should qualify with "I don't want to break the bank, and I see farming as a necessary evil".

    Assuming you're not KoS, do the Enchanted Velium Bits combine to 222, then do Sacred Symbols to 300.

    You *can* mix in other stuff, but at a skill rate of better than 1 point per 10 combines, why would you?

    T2/3 PoP zones (HoH/Valor/Decay/etc) have high drop rates of the stuff. HoH is the best, imo, as the suits seem to qualify as Golems.

      So you'd suggest to not even bother with Indium templates?
      I've exhausted the Enc.Velium Rings and was planning on working Indium to 240-250 before moving to Sacred Symbols, but if Indium is that hard to come by and Rhenium is a quicker path then I will head to HoH and farm Rhenium I spose.

        The upper courtyards in Plane of Valor are nice for golems. Also the humanoid models in Halls of Honor can drop some indium (uncommon) but is definitely a good spot for Rhenium.

          I have always been of the feeling that the best way to skill up is to do any combines you can. Don't just try to do 1 combine over and over, try any combines that are trivial above your skill that you can easily get parts for and make (don't attempt too high over skill). I found that templates, even for rhenium, were a good choice to the 273 point where they become trivial on 1 rhenium per combine (templates above there need 2 or 3 ores). Then switched to symbols. But I also used up any cobalt and tungsten ores I could find as well.

            The constructs in the Hole might be good for this level of Ores. Not entirely certain as I haven't hunted them myself, but there are quite a number in there. Levels of them increases as you go down, but might be some in the right range to kill.

              I've recently entered skyshrine as it is now a hotspot and noticed about 6 crystal golems at the entrance. After one cycle had about 8 ores most of which were indium, but I assume that was an unusual run. I'll boot up my rogue tonight and post to the update forum with more details.
              I call for the elimination of EQ levels 1-50.

                Oddly enough no golems but in the past couple of nights, I have netted an absolutely sick amount of rhenium ore (73) and fine silk (72) in CoD, off Bubonian rats and the puslings. I just pulled trains to that last room before the rat caves.

                Indium ore, excellent silk, fine and excellent pelts, bonded and ductile loam also dropped, not quite as common, and for my shammy I got all the autumn crocuses and nodding blues I could eat.

                Add the tainted essence and it really is TS paradise in there I think!
