  • Another new smith :) One question about skill mod items

Folks, I've decided that I'm a little bit crazy, so I've bitten off on the tradeskill bug With that I'm starting with smithing with my Drakkin Cleric. I'm up to fine plate, and I'm pausing while I get around 1000 leather paddings (call me a sadist!), so I can just sit down and do fine plate for a few nights in a row and be done with it.

My question is about skill mod items. I'm lucky enough to have Hammer of the Ironfrost (from the creator in SSRA), which has a 15% skill mod on it. Is there any reason I should pursue the PoR smithing trophy, since it has the same mod?

Free 100% weight reduction bag and better tradeskill oriented stats. Not for the mod, however.

There are at least two reasons to pursue the fully-evolved Smithing Trophy—they may or may not be important to you:

does it make much difference for skill when using master trophy to make the new elegant/sublime stuff?

You can run the numbers in the calculator yourself depending on which piece of elegant armor you are looking to make.

With Mastery3aa, on the 450 combine, going from 12% to 15% changed the success rate I think from 75% to 79%.
