To make an Elegant Armor

Hi.

I tried to make an Elegant Stormguard Wristband.
But when I clicked combine, I got only the message "This seems correct but something is wrong. Perhaps you need to know something more in order to combine this." instead of getting Armor.

My skill is 300 without mod. Recipe is correct.
What do I have to do to make Armor?

You need to buy the elegant cultural armor recipe book to learn the recipe first even if you have 300 raw skill.

The cultural armor recipe books are sold in the alcove outside the entrance to the library in PoK.

More specifically - you need the scroll (from a different vendor in that area) for crafting elegant armor. It's only 8 plats and change, unlike the "Crafting armor XIII" book which is (a) 415 plats and (b) covers cobalt-based armor. I bought that **** book like 3 times before I found the scroll. Ngreth is a clever ogre.

I found the elaborate armor scroll/book but not the elegant, bought every book and scroll the lil dudes had, did i miss a vendor is he located someplace else?

you get it from the Cultural Discoveries guy...he has The Elegant, Sublime, and Exalted Books.

So I have to ask for clarification. You need a 300 Raw skill to get the book from the merch, do you still have to do the Sublime quest at all?

Think of it in two parts.

The 300 skill allows you to buy the book that teaches you how to do the combines.

The Sublime quest provides you with the materials (patterns) to do the combines.

You need to do both bits. You need the skill AND the materials. Either one alone is useless.

I'm pretty sure it goes like this:

Armor
You need 300 raw skill to see the book to purchase and scribe so the elegant armor recipes show up in your cultural forges.

You have to do the cultural armor quest to get the Molds for (racial) (armorpiece) to make any (in this case Elegant) cultural armors.


Augs
You need 300 raw skill to see the Sublime books to learn how to make the sublime cultural augments.

You need to complete the sublime quest in order to be able to make the Sublime (armor) symbol patterns which are used to make the augs.

There are 2 types of books, recipe books and pattern/mold books.

Recipe books are vendor sold only become visible on the merchant as your skill increases. For Elegant armor, you need 300 raw skill to view/purchase this book.

Pattern/mold books are obtained via quests from hometown NPCs. There is 1 book per race that produces patterns/molds for all levels of armor (Elegant, Elaborate, etc). There is also 1 book per symbol level (Sublime, Exalted, Eminent, Sacred, etc) that is used to create the patterns for the symbol recipes. These quests are level based at 5 below the recommended level of the symbol they would craft.

So to create a piece of Elegant armor, you need to do a fairly simple collection quest for Ancestral Book of <insert race> Culture to create the patterns/molds for your race. You would need 300 skill to purchase the recipe book from the merchant for elegant <insert race> armor.

If you wanted to create a Sublime symbol, you would need to get the quest for Sublime pattern book and complete the quest (requires killing NPCs and getting inspirations). Then you would need 300 skill to purchase the recipe book from the merchant for sublime symbols.
