Some questions on getting skillups via culture armor

Ok had base 266 armor smithing.. Just finished making 80 skillup attepmts creating Brellium Plate Boots with 1 skill up..

Soo friend told me.. no do the new culture stuff.. ok I have accumulated over 100 Rhemiun ores and 54 bonded loams.. I will try to make just BP's and leggings as I am told there is a bonus on the chance of a skill up.. BUT .. I only have ~ 15 BP and legging molds left.. and to get more I will get 20 arm, boot, helm, gauntlet molds and 40 wrist as well.. I suppose there is no way to get just molds for the slot I want? Once I use the book 9 more times I will have to redo the task to get a new one... has the task to get the book changed???

No, there is no way to get just they type of molds you want. You get them all. However, the bonus to skillup is available on all pieces of the armor, not just the BP/Leggings. Note that even the wrist piece is trivial 275 (and only requires one ore.)

These pieces USED to have a 5% increase (linear...meaning that if you would normally have a 2% chance, you have a 7% chance, not a 2.1% chance.) I'm assuming that that percentage has not changed, but I am not sure.

Elaborate would be a 10% increase if that is the case, btw.

Another random fact of interest: the cultural armors provide you with two skillup opportunities: one for making the template (no skillup bonus), and one for making the armor (this has the bonus). Especially as your skill goes over 280 or so, that skillup bonus becomes huge. It can double or even triple your chance for a skillup on each combine.

I just did a bunch of combines myself on Rhenium and even some of the Intricate armors.

Started at 271, did 50 Rhenium Chain Bracer Templates with no skill ups. =(

Tried 36 Intricate Claviger Armband. No skill ups (ran out of room). =(

Cleared things, decided to push tempaltes first since I had a nice stash of Rhenium and all I really wanted was to break 275 last night.

35 Rhenium Chain Bracer Templates got me to 272 (finally a skill up point, yay).

21 Rhenium Chain Coif Templates to get to 276.

34 Rhenium Chain Arm Templates to get to 278.

112 Rhenium Chain Boot Templates to get to 280.

88 Rhenium Chain Chestgaurd Templates to get to 281 (I was still doing combines to get to 282 when I finally ran out of Rhenium.)


As I said I had a large stash of Rhenium.

I was ablt to do another 66 Intricate combines getting me 6 more skill ups (now 287 raw skill). Almost there.


Some good runs and some bad runs, but making prgress.
