  • I have my expert trophy. How do i get a master?

Just made 300 smithing. My trophy didn't evolve.

    Do i:

    a) Destroy my expert trophy to do my master's trophy?

    b) Keep making stuff until it evolves? It's only 64% evolved, and i've already spent 400 K or so.

Found the answer in the tailoring forums.. apparently simply just make a few more and it should evolve much much faster. Will try that now and post the results. =)

Pretty much 1 item = 1 % for each success.

Sure as hell beats the 100 successful combines per 1% I had to go thru.
Then again when I was evolving mine MCS were still 335 triv.

Except it was ~10 successful combines per 1% (not 100).

I am at 5/7 and i am at 284 smithing and get 4 to6 sd skill ups per 250 combines, this seems mighty excessive especially as get only 3 to 5 failures max as str is 532. so it seems 1000 combines plus per 100% evolve.

When you are at the same level as your trophy, it evolves at a normal rate. When you get ahead of the trophy is when you will see the accelerated evolving rate. It is on these forums in another thread, but it is 10 times faster PER level you are above the trophy. This makes an Expert trophy when you are between 250 and 299 evolve at a normal rate and when you are 300 skill with an expert trophy you see the roughly 1% per success.

The skill rate depends on the level of the items you are doing. Since the changes to remove vendor only path, I have seen reports of 750 successful combines to evolve (or 7-8 succesful combines per 1%).

It is not possible to get the 7/7 trophy from the quest NPC. The highest from the NPC is 6/7 which is the resulting reward from completing the test (the tests are given based on your skill, so your skill has to be 300 when you request this test). [Note: the reward from all the tests is the 1/7 trophy. If you are completing the test for 2/7 to 6/7 you also get a certificate. Following the combine instructions when you receive the certificate will evolve your trophy to the appropriate level.]

                    reget the trophy?

It seems in other words....in order to skip wasting supplies to do the combines to get to 6/7, delete your trophy and get it again. That is if you are 300 and your stick is still at 50% and 5/7. This way you can use those hard earned supplies to get the trophy to 7/7!!!! Either that or wait for 300 to get the trophy and use the geerlok tool for 1-300.

Your trophy will catch up with your skill level very quickly, so I wouldn't worry about it being behind. The skill mod on the lvl 5 trophy is better than a gearlok so I'd want to use the trophy again. The difference in the number of combines to lvl the trophy to 7/7 from 0% or 50% into lvl 6/7 is not going to be much at all.

There's plenty of stuff you can smith for profit that triv 300+. If you stick to those then no materials are ever "wasted".

If your skill is 300 and your trophy 5/7 and 50% to 6/7, it will take you about 50 combines to evolve it. If you destroy that trophy and get the quest for the 6/7 trophy, you can save those materials for evolving the 6/7 trophy. Doing this might net your newly quested trophy a whopping 5% towards 7/7 (using the components you saved).

Whether that is worthwhile or not would largely be a function of how many components you currently have on hand for the Master Test. If you have all or most ("most" would include ALL the rare components), then it may be a wise decision. Otherwise...
