  • Cultural combines..?

I know there is an increased chance to skill up on cultural armor combines. Right?

This may be a dumb question, but does this increase chance to skill up also apply to cultural symbols and not just the armor?

With the amounts of ore/loam I am getting I want to take the most efficient route to 300 as possible. If it's worth it I will do as many combines as possible involving Rhenium Ore and Bonded Loam. If the symbols also have an increased chance than I can get really close before I have to start using the Cobalt and Tungsten ores.

So I guess the real question is if it is worthwhile to use the rhenium ore for symbols or to get a dual purpose out of it with template then do the combine with a loam to make the armor?

Before the change to the standardized cultural, symbols did indeed have a skillup bonus. I'm not sure if they still do now. I'd assume yes, but that's an assumption, not fact.

And no I will not confirm any actual numbers, just that they have a bonus.

It "feels" like the ornate still has 5% bonus and elaborate still has 10% so the new recipes may still be the same, possibly 15% on exalted, sublime, and elegant. The trival are so high on sublime and elegant it's not good for skilling up anyway.

I wouldn't try anything higher than elaborate level for skilling up.

The catch currently is that you have to be 300 skill to even attempt exalted, elegant, and sublime combinations so there is no way for us to know what the % bonus is.

              well do remember.

If your stats are high enough (450+) then success or fail does not matter... except that on a series of failures you will have nothing to show from the work except bonus skill-ups.

So that depends on your stats.

Technically, you can do Sublime below 300 skill. It would just be a little foolhardy to do sublime augs for skillups...

How is that possible? Though sublime and elegant and exalted required the recipe book from the vendor which is skill locked at 300. So until the skill cap goes up, there is no way to skill up and utilize the bonus on those items.

The elegant armors require 300 skill to see the book on the vendor, this is true. However, I believe you can see the exalted and sublime books at any skill. I could be wrong, but I'm pretty sure Ngreth has said this a few times. I'll run a toon with low skill over just to check.

To actually make the augs, though, you have to complete the quest, which has a level (not skill) requirement.

I am pretty sure that the symbol recipe book is the same skill requirement as the armor recipe book for the vendor to display them.

I am fairly certain that the symbol books on the cultural vendors also have a SKILL restriction (not level)

Ok, can someone clear this up for me please? I got the sublime quest when I was level 79 and my smithing skill was 280. I went to fortress mechanotus and killed some reavers but my task did not update. Was this because my skill wasn't high enough (assuming you have to be 300)? Or did it not update because I wasn't level 80 yet?

I am currently level 80 and my skill is now 291 and I will be heading back to FM Saturday night so I'm curious which it needs to be to work on the sublime quest. Thanks in advance.
