  • Journeyman smith test bug??

the quest requires a pale platinum mace. A pale nihilite small head kit and a pale nihilite short haft kit are requireed to make that. The problem is all of the raw pale nihilite seem to have disapeared. The raw pale nihilite i had seem to have been replaced by raw crimson nihilite. Now also all of the recipes i had for jewelcrafting using pale nihilite have (legacy) after them. I did have a pale nihilite in my inventory that had not been changed and luckily i already had the 2 nihilite mace kits that i needed. the point IF the raw pale nihilite has been replaced by crimson or removed from the game entirely it would be impossible to finish the Journeyman smithing test quest.

    update.

Curiosity got the better of me so i did some research. heres what i found.
    1x gnomish heat source.
    1x water flask.
    1x small head inset mold.
    1x crimson nihilite.
    1x crucible.
resulted in 1x Pale nihilite small head kit.
Also i manually combined (the recipe called "Pale nihilite small head kit (legacy)" i had stored in my recipes called for a small hilt inset mold for some reason.) the traditional recipe using pale nihilite and the correct inset mold and it worked fine. The two pale nihilite small head kits stacked even though they were made with 2 different nihilite's.Trivials on both were still 122.
I apoligize this should go in jewelcrafting area but it has to do with smithing also.

Had this come up when I was doing my journeyman smith trophy task. Posted the corrected recipe of it using Crimson Nihilite... had not considered that they could still work the Pale Nihilite (legacy) items as well. The pale nihilite insets and heads, hilts, shafts should probably have been changed as well with the nihilite changes, but for now the item is still the same.

If you do the combines manually, they will produce the expected items. Just substitute "crimson nihilite" for "pale nihilite" anywhere it's called for.

If you do the combines using the TS interface to search for the recipes, that part is bugged. The recipe name doesn't correspond to what's actually being made. Even though you search for Item X, the recipe with that name actually makes Item Y, and calls for the components for Item Y.

The upshot is that you can complete the tradeskill trophy tasks if you make the items manually, using the recipes on this site, until Ngreth gets the bug fixed.

Ahh, I made them all manually. I had not made the items before and it gave me the "you have learned the XXX recipe" when I completed the combines.

I ended up with an odd sort order when I renamed the things legacy :/ This should be fixed in the next patch to make the names match up with the results :/

you can also find the "missnamed" RECIPE that has the result you want (by the items in the combine) and do it that way if you want.
