Spongy Loam

I've seen a few now, but no one seems to know a use for it. Its item number ranks it as greater than Porous Loam, but that's about all I can figure out. Marrow and Spinnerets do not have this next level, only loam. So anyone got any ideas?

There are a few "extra" ore, loam, fluid, and silks that aren't used in any recipes but are in the game for future expansions.

Yes.. but we were told these all had the tradeskill tag removed from them. And this loam still contains it, and seems to drop off very high level mobs, lvl 80ish.

well heck, this should not be dropping at all. it is the level 85 loam... enjoy what you have, it is getting removed! Those drops should have been porous loam :/

Oh sure give a few greedy trader a good reason to raise the price of spongy loam from insane to downright greedy price. It's bad enough I see them for more than 500k at the cheapest, and 1 million is the max allowed by Bazaar without hacking the bazaar ini file (over 3 million is possible via manual edit I think)

Can you just retroactively change it to Porous Loam? This stuff sure is rare enough to be Porous Loam it seems. Or if that doesn't work, make a tradeskill to convert it or hand it into an NPC to change it?

Probably not.

Because Porous loam came in at a too fast rate because of these problems, so I don't want even more in the world.

I may change my mind, but that is my current thought.

So for the hours I have spent farming, I get 1 porous loam and 2 spongy loams. When I really should have 3 porous loams now. 2 completely wasted rare drops. Really wanted some better cultural armor, and maybe an augment or 2.

First I get the mistaken spongy instead of porous loam, and now I get that the rare cultural drops are going to be even more rare. I can't get a break. Sux to be me i guess.

The reason people are paying so much for Spongy Loam is because there is a super-secret tradeskill quest you can use it for. I wasn't gonna tell anyone, but I got mine now so I don't care anymore.

What you do is combine it with a Celestial Essence, an enchanted dwerium bar and some sparkling fairy dust at *exactly* 12-noon at the top of the library tower in PoK and then you gain an AA that gives you the skills of every class in EQ (skills are capped by your current level x4)!

If you're on maelin, I'll trade ya a porous loam for those 2 spongies.
On other servers you may find other tradeskillers willing to take the risk and trade for spongies to be banked for future.

Bleh, suxs u cant jsut swap them ~_~. I have 5 of these, and only 1 porous from crystallos.
