  • Tungsten ore where does it drop

Alla's is very unforthcoming and post here are lacking as well. I know it drops from golem type mobs but looking for more specific farm info. I have 4 stacks of cobalt sitting in the bank waiting for combines and only 5 skill away from being able to scribe the cobalt book. Wont waste combines with them until i've scribed.

New mistletoe combine has screwed me...

Anything that drops them please post... i'll frequent and decide the best camp i'm just not sure how to identify "golem" type mobs. From reading post I have narrowed down mob lvl range for best drops to 58-67 if that helps at all....

I dont care how remote of mob or zone they drop in just give me heads up so I can attempt to farm.... one of the rare iksar smiths and looking forward to hooking up my sk with the new expansion armor/symbols.

Mostly the same places as Cobalt, but the Gnolls in Steppes dropped it quite a bit. This thread also covers the topic.

If you are getting cobalt ore through normal exping, I'd recommend selling it and use the proceeds to buy tungsten, which should be cheaper. You'll replace the cobalt.

Another option if you can 'experiment' with the cobalt ore to make the combines is to use that to skill up.

If you want to go the Tungsten farming route, there are possibly the golems in Relic or some of the DoN zones - I haven't checked the drop thread or hunted there after the patch, though, so not sure how they are.

Template recipes can be learned through experimentation. You do not HAVE to be 275 to make Cobalt Template recipes. It is faster to learn them with the book, and once you hit 275, you can go and do that, but until then, you can make cobalt templates and skill up as well.

I am using a mixture of Rhenium, Tungsten, Cobalt to max my skill.

I am only 5 skill points away from being able to use the cobalt so dont wish to sell them to get others. I have been cleaning out the baz of those that are reasonably placed already though.

I know the recipes for the cobalt combines already but have burned myself in the past by using higher lvl components to lvl up and then been short on those once I got that higher lvl skill so would prefer to farm what I cannot purchase.

Good suggestions though... just not ones I wish to use since I can farm the lower, and hate having to put items in the forge one at a time instead of using the simple recipe one click combine. That is one change they have made over the years that I whole heartily love. However, as it stands now you cannot learn these new recipes unless you are of sufficient skill lvl. Combine them sure... learn them for the one click combine no...

This is only true of ARMOR combines. You can LEARN the template combines after 1 successful combine just as all learnable recipes were before the cultural revamp. The skill up path is learnable without buying the book. The book simply gives you all of the recipes pre-learned without experimenting.

Ahh was under the impression it was templates as well. Thanks for pointing that out cause if my tungsten farming doesnt work out I wont have to do the one by one combines just doing templates.

              Big thanks for that.

I just tried to learn the cobalt chain bracer template, and was told I couldn't do that combine in that container.

Has anyone else tried this after the most recent patch?

I know a different type of coal is used. Think it starts with a "t" and price range is around 65pp on same merchant who sells the black coal for the tungsten combine.

I didnt do any combines myself just checked out farming spots so couldnt say if they were messed up but it could be one of the components was missing or switched out for the wrong one maybe like the coal I mentioned above.

What exact ally was used in your attempted combine?

To ask the obvious, are you sure you were doing it in a forge?

If you were, what were the exact items you tried to combine?

Yes, you can still learn them. The only time it has told me I couldn't do the combine in that container is when I forgot one of the ingredients (like the hammer!).

Both Tungsten combines and Cobalt combines trivial over 300, so it's not really a case where you would be shorting yourself later.

Kemie - I did try the cobalt bracer this weekend being under skilled to learn via the books and I was able to do so successfully so you have to be missing one of the components or substituting something else by accident.

Btw, rather than trying to collect more tungsten or cobalt ore, you could be skilling up with Rhenium at this point. Rhenium bracer templates turn trivial at 272 but Rhenium gloves (also 1 ore) go to 274, Rhenium boots (2 ore) don't turn trivial until 280 and Rhenium chestplate goes all the way to 290. If you have Bonded Loam, you can make finished Intricate armor with 300+ trivial on the chestplate.

You can even buy templates to finish from the bazaar if you're lucky. When rhenium start taking more and more ore to produce, buying bonded loam for a bit more than one rhenium starts to look better and better! I must say I was disappointed in the the low trib value, but I guess it's better than nothing.

I'm also finding inventory space to be at a new premium, and as the higher templates stack fewer per stack (only two for BP!) this is another bottle neck for skilling up with final combines. At this point I'll do anything over my current skill level though!
