  • Shar Vahl cultural smith merchant

    Hey everyone,

I apologize if this has been asked before but couldn't find anything with search.

Arms Historian Qua in Shar Vahl seems to have the metal, but I can't find the other supplies (coal, templates, etc) on any of the merchants.

    Thanks in advance!

Buy coal from Kertak Hammertail (Iksar Smithing Merchant) in Western Trade Building in PoK. He is also on the Find list.

He sells everything needed other than Ore and maybe the Smithy Hammer for the Template recipes.

For the final combine, you need a template you already made (or someone else has), the Racial metal, from the merchant you mentioned, the quested mold, a farmed loam, a Coal bought from Kertak, your racial smithy hammer, and a water flask.

So overall, including the template, you need 1-3 farmed ores, 1 farmed loam, 1 quested mold, a smithy hammer, and a racial smithy hammer, and the rest bought from Kertak, except the racial metal which you can purchase from your local racial smith supplier.

    Yther Ore.

      quick answer

The quick answer to your question is that there is no vendors in Shar Vahl for any of the new stuff except the parts needed for the final cultural combines. You must bring with you all the coals, tempers, template patterns/molds as none are available in Shar Vahl. Same goes for the tailoring stuff.

Actually, did find a tailoring merchant with the fibers, templates, etc. (don't remember name off the top of my head), but none of the smithing supplies.

Figured I was either blind or it was an oversight as the other home cities seem to have the supplies in somewhat close proximity to the cultural ore vendors.

If you run across them again, post the name. Some how I missed any with any patterns / templates / etc. Just Ancestral Acrylia and Ancestral Acrylia Threads is all I found.

I didn't check every merchant there, but thought I got all the possible ones .. i.e. Smithing / Tailoring supplies, general merchants, armor and weapons merchants, and any type of merchant close to any of the Smithing / Tailoring / Amor / Weapon merchants.

          Yther Ore.

I have checked ALL of the smithing-related suppliers in Shar Vahl as of less than an hour ago - and NONE of them have the cultural stuff to make templates.

Running back and forth to PoK is getting VERY BLOODY irritating - and it's already been suggested a FEW times to put that stuff on Master Barkham or one of the apprentices next to him.

Tailoring isn't critical, as you can DO all of the tailoring combines in PoK - just need the right sewing kit.

Templates you can make in PoK no matter what. You don't need any cultural components or forge for them.

Cultural armor you do need the appropriate forge. And, although coal and other regular supplies are not available in Shar Vahl as well as several other cities, they do stack fairly high other than the Metal Tempering Chemicals, so not a big deal to buy a few stacks and have 100s in your bank. It would be nice if they at least added the molds / patterns to make the templates available in every city, so if you are making armor as the end goal, you don't have to run to pok to keep getting more molds / patterns, some of which don't even stack at all.

                Ngreth,
I suggest Master Barkhem for templates and coal in Shar Vahl. Really need someone there selling that stuff so we don't have to zone twice going back and forth from PoK to our cultural forge.

Vague memory here of seeing some of the needed materials on an NPC other than the Historian, was in the building with the pottery wheels (possibly on Nocia?).

Server down now for SoF patch so I can't go check.

I just checked ALL of the smithing-related venders in Shar Vahl - and NONE of them have template materials. Still.

I still think Master Barkhem would be the logical choice for this stuff, mabey one of the 2 apprentices next to him - the other smithing venders are a LONG run away from any forge.

Other than Drakkin, who live in TS Mecca, every other race (I think) has to zone 1-3 times from PoK to their TS merchant, so don't feel you're being shafted or anything.

My human mage has a merchant (forget name) selling coal and the rest of the new smithing stuff about 10 feet from his cultual forge.

It was posted several times that Ngreth did not/would not have a chance to address this issue before the expansion launch but WOULD get to it afterwards.

I would think, based on his dedication to tradeskillers, that the next patch (not sure when this will be) will include new merchants or placing these items on new merchants. He has mentioned it is better now to at least HAVE the items in game even if they are not 100% convienent for every person in every city.
