  • "Useless" loam/spinerret fluid/marrow?

Ok, it's my understanding that only some of the ore/hide/silk combinations actually make armor or symbols, the others are in place to provide a skillup path and only make templates. So, the loam/spinneret fluid/marrow that do not make armor / symbols are ... "useless"?

    For example,

To make rhenium plate templates, you need rhenium ore. To make that template into a useable piece of armor (intricate), you need bonded loam. To make the corresponding sacred symbols, you need both rhenium ore and bonded loam. Therefore, bonded loam is "useful".

    But

To make tungsten plate templates, you need tungsten ore. This combine exists to give a viable skillup path (above the rhenium ore/intricate armor on the way to cobalt ore/elaborate armor). But, you can not make armor out of that template and you can not make symbols out of the tungsten ore, so the corresponding (according to another chart on these boards) fused loam is ... "useless"?

Is this correct or am I missing something?

From what I have read elsewhere, Ngeth has thoughts to make some of the current `skill up` templates usable in later patches to make other armour, maybe the lvl 80 stuff for SOF.

But currently if an ore is used just for skill up the corresponding lvl loam wouldnt be used.

That is correct. According to Ngreth we might get recipes further down the road that will use those. Atm tho they are useless

On the plus side, Ngreth confirmed over on the SOE Tradeskill forum that the Loams etc are on a different table to the skill-up materials, so we're not losing anything else when they do drop.

Maybe if Ngreth thinks that it will be awhile before new recipes using the fused loam/excellent spinnaret fluid etc. are added, the currently useless drops can simply be deleted and replaced with the appropriate ore, silk and pelts?

Would help those farming for skilling up and frustrated by the drop rates.

His preference generally has been to tune the "real" table rather than kludges I'm hoping that he can see that, once the glut of material from the "everything-gets-the-humanoid-table" bug has subsided, that drop rates overall are rather too low.
